Since the FBI launched its criminal investigation into Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's alleged mishandling and exposure of classified information through a private server, the Democrat presidential candidate and her staff have maintained the FBI is simply conducting a security review or inquiry, not a criminal investigation.

After months of staying silent surrounding the investigation, FBI Director James Comey told Fox News Wednesday that he doesn't understand what "security inquiry" Clinton is referring to. The FBI does criminal investigations and the investigation surrounding Clinton's personal server, on which she kept and transmitted top-secret, classified and human source information, is no exception.

"I don't even know what that means, a 'security inquiry.' We do investigations here at the FBI," Comey told Fox News' Catherine Herridge, reiterating Clinton will not be receiving any kind of special treatment.

It looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, what you got there is "security inquiry" - said no one ever!

I can hardly wait to see her in orange and walking into the local federal prison. OJ escaped punishment, but the long arm of justice finally caught up with him in Vegas. Bill avoided losing the Oval Office, but maybe, just maybe, the scales of justice will even out with Hillary facing the music. This is the least she deserves for the four dead men in Benghazi.

Read the article. Watched the video. Searched the internet. At no point did FBI director Comey use the word criminal when referring to the investigation. Just another awesome job of "reporting" by Faux News.

Comey said Wednesday that he would not discuss at this time whether he would make a public announcement whether criminal charges are pursued or not.

(I hope TheBlaze is right wing enough for you to consider it credible.)

After looking back at all the posts I did not find a news report by Fox news where anyone from Fox News said Comey used the word "Criminal". Can you show me that post?

Further, it can be rightly deduced that this is a criminal investigation since the behavior of Clinton with regards to the emails would be concluded to be criminal should there be any evidence of wrong doing.

Lastly, this is childish nitpicking over a single word, it appears, just to take a stab at Fox News. The sad part is your accusation of Fox News is in complete error. So now you look petty and wrong.

Nope, you're right, I can't. I can see that TownHall used the word. I can see it in the title of your OP. And there is a line in the Fox News video embedded in the TownHall article where the Fox reporter quotes government employees that say they would already be in jail if they had done what Clinton had done (1:00 on the video timeline). That's called hearsay, BTW.

Could be criminal. Could be national security. Could be information gathering. That's not my point. Your OP title says the FBI Director said the investigation was "criminal". He did not say that.

Well, not in complete error. They did insinuate it was a criminal act by quoting someone else who said they would be in jail had they done what Hillary did. But give Faux News a couple of days. I might be proven completely right.

Oh no! Some news organization is quoting the opinion of some government employees! We need to shut them down immediately!

It's not hearsay. No one tried to pass it off as truth. It was presented as it should be.

And you think there is a distinction to be made here?

That is what Comey said it was not.

It is the characterization of what he said by the author.

"They" did no such thing. That is a completely irrational conclusion.

I would submit if a person posts FBI Director says Hillary investigation is a criminal investigation when he said no such thing is the person that is trolling.
I can see you've got your dander up today. Have fun with that.

I'm quite sure that is what you want it to be.

I have said nothing to indicate such I certainly have not said that I am. Since I never made that claim of myself but you are working to impose it on me then I suggest you are being hypocritical. Please avoid false accusations just to redirect from your error.

    ..................
There might be a criminal element to this investigation, in that the FBI is determining if criminal activity occurred in connection with the email setup.

We talked to experts in federal criminal investigations, and they told us that the FBI doesn’t look into issues just for the heck of it. They assess cases to find out whether criminal activity occurred.

"We don’t do these because we’re curious," said Ellen Glasser, a retired FBI special agent who worked on cases regarding mishandled classified information. "There’s a potential that a criminal violation took place."

Glasser, immediate past president of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, emphasized that she has no inside knowledge about the Clinton case beyond what has been publicly reported.

Clinton’s phrasing — calling it a "security inquiry" — is not necessarily wrong, saidMark Pollitt, former chief of the FBI’s computer forensics program. But it obscures the fact that an investigation can be both security-related and criminal.

A reasonable person might take Clinton’s phrasing to mean the FBI is simply conducting a risk assessment of her server to see whether it’s secure. Agents might do that as part of an investigation, but it’s not the end game, Pollitt said.

..............In a mere 21-second news brief, co-host Norah O’Donnell informed viewers: “The head of the FBI confirms the probe of Hillary Clinton's private e-mail server is a criminal investigation. The former Secretary of State's campaign calls it a ‘security inquiry,’ but director James Comey says he doesn't know what that means.”
