    Thanks for posting this mc.

I was hoping someone would maybe post a review? I may go see it and offer one if anyone cares.

Thanks for posting this MC, makes me think twice about some things.

If you do see the movie Joshua, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.

I do Joshua. AND I too may see it. I have kids reading the book and I know I have kids who will see the movie.

Here's a quote that made me stop and think (I tend to be a "sheltering" type parent).

    from the article:
I get the point on children's fascination with the forbidden, but this is akin to allowing/encouraging pornography. One doesn't have to go to the garbage dump to know it stinks. None in my family, including me, will see this trash.

Children should not be seeing the movie or reading the book. Of course I wouldn't expect anything else from a liberal rag like CT.

It looks a lot like a Narnia rip off. I don't know which is worse, anti-spirituality or quasi spirituality. I guess one is cold, and one is lukewarm, both wrong.

Sometimes the Christian right is niether.

McDirector, I know you love the Lord, I hate to see what you've referenced written off as a "liberal rag".

Reminds me of the psuedo-fundy furor over "The Dark Crystal", a very enjoyable fantasy movie. I've enjoyed it with my daughter, along with several other fantasy movies. I don't really think I'll hear word one about it at the judgement seat.

    Good grief.

There is no reason to take that as some commentary on her.

    Ridin' a hobby horse

Do some of you even have a clue as to what you are saying here? (Where is rbell when one really needs him, with his "clueless" 'tag-line'?)

What in the world does someone citing a story have to do with anything, especially as to how that is, in any way, a "commentary" on that or another person?

BTW, the OP offered no opinion, there, as to anything, and merely provided a quote.

I agreed with Curtis' assessment of "fantasy" films... not with the "liberal rag" comment. I don't think Tim meant it as a slight against MC, and didn't read it that way at all.

The problem I have with the CT article is that they are suggesting that it would be harmful if you do not let your children watch it. Although they assert the importance of parents to discuss it it is just ridiculous to presnet some threat to your children if they do not watch it.

It is a very liberal view that we must let children do what they want and just guide them through it so they will not rebell.

From what I understand about the movie and the books, is that this first move installment has muted most of the anti-God themes. And in fact, the books themselves gradually build into the anti-God theme and culminates in the final book. Whether the movies will continue to mute those themes or not is up for grabs. So the danger isn't so much with the movie itself (not that I will ever waste my time with it), but it is in the books where the author's ideas will have (and have had) their biggest impact.

Allright, I apologize for the statement to Timothy, but still think the uproar is silly.

Why is the uproar silly? Even SNOPES says that the anti-God statements are true.

I will pressure my kids into keeping my grandkids away from this movie.
They are subjected to enough anti-Christian garbage in our world today.

The fact that this atheist wrote in the movie a part where YAHWEH is killed should tell the Christian this movie is not fit for the Child of God to watch.

If you separate the theme of the movie from the fact that it is a fantasy film it is clear that this junk is not appropriate for Christians much less children. Being a fantasy film has no bearing on the issue for me.
