Anybody else having a problem where Firefox hangs on every single web page you load?

If you're having this problem, as I am, and you're tired of trying to figure out how to fix it, but you love Firefox's interface, I have an alternative to the aggravation. Install Seamonkey.

It's from Mozilla, so the interface is pretty much the same without the constant hangs.

I really didn't like seamonkey, but I'm not having a problem with Firefox. I really do not understand the nuances of all the browsers and when I was working on my summer project page I about pulled my hair out. rgb colors were a particular issue as was a sweet little slide graphic I tried to use but had trouble with pictures aligning differently on the differently browers.

Have you tried uninstalling FF -- completely -- registry and all and reinstalling it? I'd be worried that SM would eventually pull the same stunt that FF is . . .

Yup. No joy. I tried to use Opera, but the one thing it didn't do was allow me to right-click on a bookmarked site and open it in a new tab. I'm liking Seamonkey so far.

On firefox you might try dumping the cache for the hanging on every page problem, and making sure it is of good size.

Do you have any adware/spyware removal programs?

Firefox is an excellent browser. :)

Did you install any new extensions? Try making a new, clean profile and see if it still happens.

Try using the FasterFox extension. It adjusts the setings in Firefox to optimize it.

First thing I did. No joy.

I have 2. I had some spyware a couple of weeks ago, but it's long gone, didn't affect Firefox then and there's no spyware on my system currently. Firefox is a great browser when it's not hanging on every single web page.

No extensions and I tried the clean profile as well.

I'll give it a shot, although getting Firefox to work right has become less of a priority since Seamonkey has the same interface and works just as well.

Thanks for all your recommendations everybody! :)
