Can a person be saved and not be a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ? Or is being a fan enough to be saved? If a person does not have to be a follower of Christ to be saved then who are they following?

It would depend on how you define follower but my knee-jerk reaction to your first question is absolutely not. The life of the Christ follower must be fruitful in some apparent way and demonstrate the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Second question, nope. We're called to reproduce ourselves spiritually, that requires activity. Whereas a fan in my mind is simply a spectator.

Third, may as well be Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, the Easter Bunny or our wonderful political leaders. All equally "mythical" critters.

Well, I would say that if a person is a FANATIC for Jesus, they are probably a Christian!

I agree with everything except your last statement. If a person is not following the Lord Jesus Christ they are following satan.

Agreed, I was trying to be facetious and in doing so missed out on making that point.

A sinner is saved by faith alone/Grace alone by God...

Now they should indeed by "disciples" of christ, as that is what the bible indicates should be doing to grow in their maturity, but its NOT manditory/absolute requirement....

Have to define 'follow", for the saved person will be following jesus, its just that he can still chose wether to be a disciple of his or not!

Not according to the bible. It takes repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ or no salvation takes place. And repentance is not 50%, 75%, or 99%. It is 100% or they have not repented.

The Greek word for disciple in scripture translated means a learner, pupil, disciple, follower. A person who is not a disciple of Jesus is not a Christian. If a person is not a disciple of Jesus than they are a disciple of satan and no person who is a disciple of satan is saved.
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

repentance means that the sinner agrees with God they are sinners, who cannot keep the law in order to get saved, are not able to do good works, and whose only hope is in jesus!

The part of repenting from all known sins before salvation NOT biblical, that follows after being saved, as convicted by the Spirit and the Word!

It isn't a matter at all of what a saved person does.

It is a huge matter of what the Lord is doing in him or her.

BUT too often we want to running around deciding who is saved and who isn't.

Should there be fruit and following? Of course!

But then comes the sticky question of what exact fruit and how much is enough and--well, you get the idea.

You are back to expecting sinless perfection.

Perhaps it is better to expect sinless perfection than to give people the impression that it doesn't matter what they do, and that no one has the right to judge their lack of fruit" thereof as an indication of not being a regenerate creation.

No that is not what the word means The Greek word means to make a 180 degree turn and when associated with God as in acts it means to turn to God. It is impossible to almost turn to Him. You either turn to Him or you do not.
    Acts 20:21
No repentance no salvation. It is not faith alone as you stated

Yes every believer is a disciple. Just like every kindergartener is a student and not as schooled as a college student but they are all students. The same with every believer. We are ALL disciples. If a person is not a disciple/follower they are not saved.

Repentance does not teach sinless perfection. No, that would be wrong. It is better to speak the truth without adding anything to it or taking anything from it. The NT never says repent of sin. It says repentance towards God. Repentance is making a willful choice (free will) from the heart that the person wants to get right with God no matter what it may cost them. They are then directed to the Son and are to put that heart on Him and faith is born and they are saved. The evidence of repentance and faith will be a life of no more practicing sin.The results of the salvation is no more sin practining.
    1 John 3:8,9
Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil.
No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's [fn] seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.

There is nothing sticky about it. The bible gives the answer IF we will just accept it.
