For Modern versions onlyists! I ask you one question concerning modern versions that you use mostly. Please answer this question.

I use the New King James and really like it. You didn't include it in the poll.

I might be wrong, but I don't think there are any modern version onlyists here.....

There are those who use modern versions though. Do you want us to answer even if we aren't MV only?

I prefer the "old paths" (Jer 6:16) of the ancient autographa. Well, in the poll I clicked "ESV"

one's gauge of accuracy depends on what measure one's using.

    is it verbal/formal correspondence?

    is it meaning/semantic correspondence?

    is it reader-response correspondence?

    is it KJB correspondence?

    is it Majority text correspondence?

is it Minority ("Textus Receptus") text correspondence?

it's definitely oversimplified, but i gave my pity vote anyway [IMG]

I, too, opt for the NKJV as #1 choice among all versions.

But NASB enjoys a good reputation for its formal equivalence and using the better Greek texts than the AV.

modern version onlyists are just as sinful as KJVO!! The only thing we should be "only" about is salvation through christ. He's the only way.

I have found in my studies that many of the translations of the Bible available today have areas in which they excel, including the KJV. [IMG]

For casual Bible Reading and devotional purposes I generally use the NASB, partly because the reference edition that I use includes textual notes that help me to stay on track. [IMG] It is also the Bible that I take to church with me. [IMG] Nonetheless, I have found the NKJV to be an outstanding translation of the Bible and I sometimes quote from it. [IMG]

    A side note:

Dr. Bob Griffin is a very wise and well educated man, and many of the individuals on the message board would do well to spend more time learning from him [IMG] and less time trying in vain to refute him :( .

A question for Askjo, no poll necessary:

Is KJVO of God, or man? Please provide proof for the veracity of your answer. I will do the same if you request.

God will bear witness -to His children- the things pertaining to God.Observe:

John 16:13,Proverbs 22:17-21,and 2 Corinthians 2:9-13. Now,Scripture(KJB)should be enough to resolve that problem for you;Or will you "yeah but..." that one away too?

OK,we'll see: Where in Scripture(KJB) does God OK man to put scholarship and mens opinions over what God says???

I can't take the poll. In fact, I don't know of anyone on this board who can take this poll, since I'm not aware of there being any "modern version onlyists" on this board. I've said many times that version-onlyism of any kinds is unscriptural. That would include use of any so-called "modern" version as well.

If you believe modern versions are more accurate than the KJV, go ahead to vote there. [IMG]

IMO the NASB is so literal that is ast times difficult to read, better with the 95 update. I voted for the ESV because it has accuracy and readability.

I've read those verses(and the surrounding ones also) in eleven different versions, including the AV 1611, & I don't see one hint of KJVOism mentioned anywhere.

I will do the same if you request.

OK,we'll see: Where in Scripture(KJB) does God OK man to put scholarship and mens opinions over what God says???

Right after where He authorizes the KJV translators to use their opinions in their work, I.E, "the image of", found in no Greek ms, in Romans 11:4 and "God forbid" in divers places.

Actually, I meant that I'd answer my own question, but I don't mind answering yours either. Too bad you try to avoid answering mine. I don't see, "KJVO is of Me" in any of the verses you cite. You're gonna hafta de better'n'that, Sir.

I don't know of any modern version onlyists. I use several English versions - including ones older than the KJV.

I carry my Keyword study Bible because of the references to the origonal Greek and Hebrew in the back... It is NASB, however I use E-Sword and try to study in as many of the versions as possible to try to glean the best understanding of His Word that I can possibly gain from serious study.
