Author, blogger and young Christian leader Chelsen Vicari has a poise, depth and capacity that betrays her mere age of 28. But just a few years ago, she admits she was a public school-indoctrinated feminist who even believed marriage was a form of slavery.

In this exclusive 17-minute video interview for The Daily Caller News Foundation, Vicari tells of her transformation to conservatism and championing Christianity as well as her thoughts on the 2016 election.

“Young Christians are confusing individual Christian compassion and the church’s role and responsibilities in public life, with the government providing entitlements and expanding welfare programs,” she says. Faithful supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders are just being “lazy Christians” if they think socialism will take care of society’s problems. “We should be doing and acting rather than having the government provide more,” she continues....

    ....
She describes the pressures on millennials to conform to liberal thought and the coarsened secular culture, saying it twists truth, sin and believers. No one wants to be hurtful to their peers or marginalized, she explains, yet wanting to be compassionate, loving and tolerant weakens the truth of the Christian faith.

“They think they are being compassionate, when in fact, they are just being duped,” she says.

Like a lot of political conservatives , she seems to have confused her political conservatism with her Christianity.

Not in my experiences. It seems to mostly be the political conservatives who think their political conservatism is the equivalent of following Christ. This board is the perfect example.

What if the bible teaches politically conservative principles?

Are we to conclude your politics are atheistic?

If that's what you conclude from my many statements, then I must assume that your conclusion is reached through the same lens that allows so many political conservatives to equate their political conservatism with following Christ.

The Bible teaches us about Christ and His principles. It does not teach politically conservative principles.

I can think of a handful of folks on this board who might be considered liberal. But none of them seem to equate their liberal politics with following Christ.

It's very obvious when a person's politics shapes their Christianity rather than their Christianity shaping their politics.

Which being interpreted means Aaron once again is looking through the same grainy lens that makes a lot of political conservatives equate their political conservatism with following Christ.

If you can't equate your political practices with following Christ, then you should change your political practices.

Some would say that Christ and His principles ARE politically conservative. You know, like where Paul said "if you don't work, you don't eat"? Unless you wanna make the case that Paul came up with that on his own....

Thank you for pointing this out.

The Bible does in fact teach some principles that would be considered politically conservative.

"We need to be careful not to become overly enamored with a particular political party or candidate. The church should not posture itself as Republican or Democrat. Neither party is thoroughly biblical. There is a mixture of good and evil in both parties. And all candidates (even if they are Christians) are fallen sinners who are susceptible to the lust for power and prestige. We also need to realize that candidates of both parties posture themselves to appeal to large blocks of voters, such as “the Religious Right.” We should not be duped or overly optimistic that a candidate who says that he holds to “conservative family values” will actually promote those values once he is in office."

"But when one party (or its presidential candidate) endorses abortion and homosexual rights, and the other party (or its candidate) stands on the opposite side, I don’t see how a Christian in good conscience can vote for the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual rights candidate. These are moral issues, not political issues."
