The last I read about the subject Fred Thompson was expected to enter the race sometime after Labor Day.

Let everyone else on both sides self-destruct, then step in and sweep up.

Because of the vacation drag and the summer slump, I never expected him to announce July 4 or anytime this month. I do expect near Labor Day and that will put him in the scheduled Sept debate with much fanfare.

Unlike the coat tail rider Fred doesn't feel pressured to join the race any sooner than he is ready for.

Yeah, I think Fred is playing it pretty cool. Let the others slug it out, as someone opined.

I guess y'all are right, just seems like he dropped off radar. Maybe he went on vacation to watch the summer antics:laugh:

Maybe Mr. Thompson is getting cold feet. He did not have a reputation for being an energetic U.S. senator. He may decide that a national presidential campaign is too much for him.

The country has been basically seeing him in the form of George W. Bush since January 20, 2001.

A Fred Thompson administration would be a continuation of the current Bush administration. I am not sure that our republic would survive four more years of that.

I would not vote for Fred Thompson for president. I voted for twice for George W. Bush for president and I don't want to vote for a another liberal Republican for president in the form of Fred Thompson. I allowed George W. Bush to pull the wool over my eyes. I won't allow Fred Thompson to do the same.

Great so you want to vote for a liberal ronnie instead.

Yes, as restoring limited, constitutional government is important to me as I think it is to you as well.

Well, we've all seen this conversation before. I'm not convinced Fred is perfect. (I'm convinced he isn't). But a liberal he's not, and he's an upgrade over the "Pygmies." ;)

I feel bad using Newt's line knowing Tancredo's still in there. There's my caveat :)
