This sunday the swedish baptist church Normalmskyrkan voted and decided to practice gay marriage in the church.

The church is part of the Baptist Union of Sweden.

There is a lot of discussion now among Swedish Free Churches and among Swedish Baptists.

    Best Regards

    Yuck and for shame.

Isn't the bible their sole authority? And God is pretty clear in both the Torah and the NT about that behavior. They should drop their moniker.

    Hello,

May I ask what you mean by "practice gay marriage in the church"? Thank you. I don't know what that means.

    Thanks for the news.

Do you mean they will accept gay married couples as members or that they will allow gay members or gay people to get married by their pastors?

Well, for one they are not Baptist. it may say it on the telephone listing, but they sure ain't living it.

Second, it ain't a church. Homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord, period. Any "church" that endorses it divorces itself from the Lord.

    'Nuff said.

Marry homosexual couples and thereby endorse it.

I agree with you but this is becoming more common now. I told some friends about 3 or 4 yrs. ago that we would be seeing gay marriage more accepted in the U.S. (at the time, I think it was just in Vermont) and in the churches more and more. It's just the way the world works - once they cross a line, the line gradually gets erased.

They are trying to have gay marriage legalized here in D.C. They have the votes on the City Council for it. The only thing that can stop it is if Congress gets involved, which I don't think it will.

I've heard of several Baptist churches blessing gay unions - this has gone on for a few years. One was a So. Baptist church in Kansas City, MO (I think it got kicked out by the MO Baptist Convention).

Where are all these "gay" threads coming from all at once? Why is the question even being asked? Why dont we start a thread asking if devil worship is acceptable at the altar during the invitation?

Hey, now here is an idea. We can take the concept of the gay pastor from the other thread and use him to marry gay couples. That way it will be more acceptable before the church.

Since we have those two threads going, next we need to find out if gay pastors are more or less likely to be KJVO and Calvinists.

This whole thread and the other one are unbelievable in that they even exist.

    saturneptune,

I apologize for the "Gay pastor" thread if it bothered you in any way or seems like a question this is not important. I was honestly just curious about this. I was thinking about how we are all sinners and if it was possible to have a gay Pastor, on the condition he did not practice that lifestyle. Others have said one is not born that way, because why would God do that. However, it is my opinion it is very possible gays are born and that God is giving them a challenge. I know, that Bible crushes gays. Yet, I believe people have been born that are prone to murder, steal, and a load of other issues that challenge a person to do right. We are sinners from birth.

I'm sure people madly disagree on my opinion that people are born certain ways. They feel it may be an excuse one can use or that it would be impossible for God. It's not a license to do wrong, I believe everyone has a choice and I was getting to the point that maybe a gay person could be a Pastor, if his choices were in line with scripture.

Anyway, sorry to everyone for such a debate.

We are all equally prone to all sins. You are just as prone to homosexuality as the biggest flamer in all the world. We all are.

See, "not to practice" doesn't tell us if he is still in a sinful lifestyle or not. A pedophile who just looks at children with lust is still a pedophile. A "gay" pastor is still in a sinful lifestyle because he is denying God's truth in what is the proper sexuality for every man. A recovered gay man, however, would be fine in the pulpit. There was a member here who was in the gay lifestyle for much of his life but has turned from that lifestyle thanks to the grace and power of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit indwelling him. I'd be happy to call him my pastor at some point in life. But a pastor who still identifies himself as "gay" has a deeper heart issue that would disqualify him from being a shepherd of a flock.

Good point, Annsi. Don't be fooled into thinking that a "recovered gay man" never looks at a man with lust. The difference is whether he recognizes it as lust and turns his mind from it, or whether he feeds it.

I've been happily married for 5 years. I would be lying if I said I don't look at other women with lust (and my wife is a hottie, too, so go figure). But when I do, I recognize it as lust and turn my mind from it. Does that make me guilty of being in a sinful lifestyle? I'd guess probably not, but I sin nonetheless. What I think we're dealing with here is a matter of the label: "gay", "straight", etc. It's more important to discern the attitude towards an action than the label that is often affixed.

In regards to gay marriage in general, the answer is still no.

This is a big issue today, so I have no problem discussing it here.

I think whether or not people are born this way is irrelevant. God forbids this behavior and that is the main thing. One is to curb desires and acting out of those desires that God condemns. God does not ask things one cannot carry out with His strength, but of course, most people use the "I was born this way" to justify it.

Marrying homosexuals in any church is an abomination, be it Baptist or any other group.

    God have mercy

If you are born gay, what makes you gay? How can you be gay, but not be actively gay?

Homosexuality is a sinful decision------------and I've decided not!!!!!!!!! I am not prone to become one-----no more than I am prone to rob any bank I happen to drive by on my way to the office!!! The bank is perfectly safe from my "proneness" to rob it!!

    Hello ShotGunWillie,

I cannot answer this question as I am a man with wife. Perhaps this is not something that is possible. I was thinking maybe a man could be born this way, not interested in females at all, yet does not act on his "nature"? Or he did act but found Christ and from that day forth did not do such activity.
