How many prayers can I say to correct what has gone wrong?
How many prayers would it take to change this vicious course of events?
What actions can I take to fix these horrible things?
A grown man walks into a school and assaults the girl children there. He then kills one and then himself with a high powered gun.
Another grown man a thousand miles away goes into a schoolhouse and attacks a room full of girl children with a high powered gun. Five are dead today. Several others are in the hospital mortally wounded.
The doctors call it being in ‘critical condition’. They say the children who have been attacked by these adults are in ‘critical condition’. That’s the medical term.
    What is the human term?
If you watch professional sports why take one minute of just one game to consider how you can change things. You can’t stop what happened already.
It’s worse than a fumble or a missed pitch.
If you own a gun - why not take one minute to think about what could do to change the course of this blood-red rage for senseless violence?
If you are in business why not take one minute of one coffee break to think of a way to stop this baggage from following and permeating our society?
    Girl children.
    Slaughtered by men.
] For all the noise and dust kicked up about terrorists and the enemy ‘out there’ look at what happened here in the United States. Spawned from home grown hatred and misguided choices and lives that exclude hope.
A Baptist clergyman from Kansas had this to say about the slaughter of the innocents in Pennsylvania, "Those Amish people, everyone is sitting around talking about those poor little girls — blah, blah, blah — they brought the wrath upon themselves.“ He said the Amish "don't serve God, they serve themselves."
Charles Carl Roberts IV killed these girls — Naomi Rose Ebersole, 7; Marian Fisher, 13; Mary Liz Miller, 8; and her sister Lena Miller, 7, Anna Mae Stoltzfus, 12.
Another 6 year old girl was taken off life support so that she could be taken home to die.
Dr. D. Holmes Morton who was working with the 6 year old said, "I just think at this point mostly these families want to be left alone in their grief and we ought to respect that."
Here is a man who worked with the Amish for years and still doesn’t see what is right in front of him.
The Amish don’t want to be left alone. They want you to join them in a life of peace and harmony.
The world is a harsh place as it is but the modern world is filled with things that do not need to be that cause needless sorrow and waste a lot of time.
The handguns that killed these children wasted a lot of time and have caused much sorrow.
An Amish neighbor comforted the Roberts family hours after the shooting and extended forgiveness to them.
What courage before Christ have you shown today that could even come close to matching the compassion and love that was shown here?
    It went almost without notice.
Hidden in the howling mob-like news coverage.
The common human experience was nearly quenched in the riot of sound and images just as the lives of these girl children were snuffed out.
    But the light shone out.
    Do you see it?
What action will you take to make the world a better place? What will YOU do to make this country and God’s world a place where girl children are safe?
    It’s up to you.
This happened to your neighbors. People you are bound to protect as an American and a person.

I appreciate your feelings but there is nothing anyone can do to make this world a better place.
We live in a fallen world, we are fallen creatures, sin is in us, with us, and around us.
Until the Lord of Lords and King of Kings returns, and this world is judged at the White Throne of His judgment, this world will remain at odds and in a collission course with the Righteous Judge.

Like everyone else, I am humbled by the spirit of forgiveness that the Amish people have.

In this instance, this forgiveness is well placed, for the family of the man who murdered the Amish children have nothing at all to do with the deed.

However, there are times when their concept of forgiveness works to their disadvantage and to the hurt of the one aggrieved, as in the case of the former Amish girl who left their community after having been told, in a church setting, to forgive and forget the dastardly act of repeated incest perpetrated upon her by her two brothers, one older and the other younger. This after the perpetrators admitted having raped her repeatedly. The older brother since she was about 8 or 9 years old. She now lives apart from the Amish community, smokes, drinks, parties, listens to hard rock and metal, drives a car.

Nevertheless, as a people, the Amish are sincere and peaceful.
Their act of forgiveness was not missed by the world.
As a matter of fact, media kept asking "how can you forgive such an act perpetrated upon you ?".

As for the acts of violence perpetrated upon children in a place where most parents used to deem them safe, I would like to share with you some snippets of a write up by somebody:

The "baptist pastor from Kansas" you quote is Fred Phelps of Westboro "Baptist" "Church." He is a sorry piece of filth that only represents his inbred flock of idiots.

Me getting rid of my gun does nothing to help others. My gun has never killed anyone, and never will--unless it's an intruder coming into my house.

I appreciate your passion, but it needs quite a bit of refining.

And I am doing something to make this world better--I am a minister who reaches out to teens.

The deranged male (sometimes female) who barges into a school and shoots someone is a tiny blip on the numbers. Fact is, most people shoot someone they know, a family member or a neighbor. Often, it's by mistake, or an accident, or a misidentification of the victim as an intruder. Accidents cause a large number of fatalities, mostly caused by idiots who have never had a gun safety course.

That being said, a study in the early 90s by the National Safety Council, using NRA stats on the number of people who shot or scared off a threatening intruder with a firearm, suggests that about 20% of Americans live in areas so dangerous that it's safer to have a gun than not to have one.

Now, that's frightening. We do have a problem with violence, and while homicide rates declined in the 90s to the lowest levels ince 1966, they have leveled off in recent years.

I've lived in an Amish community, and there are good and bad points to their lifestyle.

I definitely took notice of the attitude displayed by them in this tragedy. It is commendable.

I don't think now is the time to point out the flip side, so I won't.

    What can we do?

We can quit normalizing porn and quit openly promoting an "anything goes" type of sexuality. It's destroying minds and lives.

How can we stop it? When we refuse to participate in it, when we life the Christian lifestyle and show others that ours is the better way, we're doing that.

That's really about it. Christ is the answer. Not enough people have Christ, so they still have the problem.

It's a horrible tragedy, what's happening lately. I took a couple years off just not reading the news, but lately I've been going online and reading CNN. It's all about sex crimes now it seems. For the last few days, the headlines shown have been about these sexually-oriented school shootings, torture chambers, watched a news show type thing on tv where a man kept young girls one at a time in a dungeon. (good Christian man btw)

We've allowed the normalizing of porn the open promotion of an anything-goes sexual lifestyle. We've done it in the name of freedom, of equality, etc.. Not all of us. But many of us. "it's their business". Or we're too polite to be honest.

I am afraid my Filipino friend, that you have mixed some Muslim ideals with Christian thought and that just doesn't work.

Do you reach out with a gun in your hand?
Do you teach them what you think you could teach me with some cheap bit of political propaganda that has nothing to do with what I asked?
I'd think twice in the future Pastor, before you go waving your gun around when the discussion is about peace.

As for 'refining', I'll leave that to you. [snipped by moderator for inappropriate insinuation]

Wow - you went to an awful lot of trouble not to answer the questions.
Shooting someone is never an accident. Whoever fires the weapon is responsible.
If you are trying to make a cheap political point you should be ashamed of yourself.

I think you are right in what you say. As for your criticisms of them it is good of you not to explore them. It would not have been right and in case, I've never heard them say a bad word about you.

I think that your point about porn and the cheap treatment of the human body is important. That combined with drugs and violence and I think you have hit the nail on the head.

As for what to do about it, however? What there?

The other day I saw a show on 'Love' on public television. It was a good show talking about love and how love works in our society. It wasn't pornographic. There wasn't any discussion of any strange morality. The show had a warning at the beginning stating it might not be suitable for children.

On another station I saw children's cartoons depicting prepubscent girls showering, extraordinary violence and immoral behavior like stealing, getting revenge, murder and the use of drugs. The warning that appeared before the show was displayed at the same time a parody of the warning was up. You can see these shows on any cable network. They are from Japan.

What society will we have? What society is being exported to Iraq and Afghanistan? What echo will we hear as a result of this madness screeching into infinity?

I heard this guy dropped his own kids off at school and then went to kill the girls.

    That is monstrous.

So then, you don't believe that we live in a sinful world full of sinful creatures, and that God will one day end and judge the world?

That's not Muslim, it's straight from a little book I call the Bible.

You sure do like to criticize everyone who posts, don't you?

That is the most disgusting insult I have ever received on this board. How dare you compare, or insinuate, that I am anything like a pedophile.

You make me sick. You want to pick fights? Go right ahead. But do not make those accusations against my character.

I have reported your post. I hope you get banned.

    Disgusting.

If I missed one, feel free to show me. I appears you don't know what to say about the data.

Horsepucky. Accidental shootings are very common.

Different issue. You do understand that "having an accident" and "not being responsible" are two different things, don't you?

Just pointing out facts. If you find them offensive, you might want to think about it. I don't really know what "side" you are on, but it doesn't matter. Facts are not obliged to meet our expectations.

I am, BTW, in favor of the right to bear arms, even though I recognize guns in the hands of foolish people cause a great deal of harm. Freedom is more important than security. In fact, without freedom, there can be no security at all.

I don't criticize everyone that posts. Why are you attacking me personally?
The fellow that posted that information that is infused with eastern influence is from the Philipines. Did you know that?

Please don't refer to the Bible with cute phrases.

Cranston36, this is off topic but I must ask. Your profile says you are 85 years old and that you drive a bus for a living. Please tell me you are retired. Please tell me that you don't actively drive a bus now.

I've reported him...hopefully a mod will come lock this one down and plant a size 10 boot in some hind parts...

...I try to be careful when I write...I don't even know if I've ever had a post edited or deleted (not many if I have)...but when someone compares me to a pedophile, the gloves tend to come off.

Well, we do have Muslims in the Philippines, yes, but I don't think they have a concept of sin and a second coming of Christ as we Christians know and understand these.
They don't believe Christ is the Son of God, how much more the coming Judge ?
    Your remark is kinda confusing.
