For some reason the threads won't pull up again for me. You will have to copy and paste it.

Matt 13:10-11 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?

11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. St. John 12:39-40 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:

38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?

39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,

40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

Yup. It's gone. And I'm not going to do it again. Seems like a minor point. Surely you're not going to deny the term is used to describe the unsaved ?

Mat 13:15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

    Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Rom 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

St. John 17: 1-2 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Rev. the prayer that Christ prayed in the garden, you can find election all through the prayer. Verse two: God gave Christ power over all flesh. He has the power to save or not to save. But who does he save or give eternal life too ? The answer is, as many as thou (God) has given him ( Christ) the words whom thou has given me is mention six times in this prayer. In St. John 6:37 Christ said, ALL THAT THE FATHER GIVETH ME SHALL COME TO ME; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. St. John 10:29 My Father WHICH GAVE THEM ME, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of the Fathers hand.

Act's 13:47-48 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: AND AS MANY AS WERE ORDAINED TO ETERNAL LIFE BELIEVED.
All that were ordained to eternal life believed, no more, no less.

Zec 7:12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

Yet another non-issue posted to change the subject, i.e. God's love for fallen mankind.

When Jesus said "It is finished" He was referring to His perfect sacrifice as the Lamb of God. Now for anyone to receive that reconciliation provided by the finished work, God must credit their faith in Christ as righteousness, 2 Thessalonians 2:13. We are chosen for salvation through faith in the truth.

Note the people of Matthew 7 believed, saying Lord Lord, and doing ministry, but their faith was never credited as righteousness.

Rom_4:3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Actually Romans 4:4-5 are more to the point.

The issue of this thread is whether or not, God loves fallen mankind, or just the supposedly previously chosen elect. Scripture is clear, God loves fallen mankind, as taught by John 3:16. Now some seek to redefine world to mean elect, but that dog will not hunt.

Christ laid down His life as a ransom for all, 1 Timothy 2:6. God demonstrated His love toward us when He died for us. Thus it is inescapable, God loves fallen mankind. Now it is true, that God both loves (agapeo) and loves (phileo) His elect, those He caused to be born anew, becoming part of His family. Titus 3:5 indicates God has love for mankind by the use of a word that means love for mankind. Some translations leave out the "for mankind" part but it is their in the Greek.

1 John Chapter 2 makes clear that Christ became the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only as born anew believers who are both Jews and Gentiles, but also for the whole world of fallen mankind, made up of Jews and Gentiles. See verses 2, 12 and 16.

Propitiation = Christ = means of salvation.
