I think it is a reach to equate fighting "climate change" with working for peace.

Gore, U.N. body win Nobel Peace Prize
By DOUG MELLGREN, Associated Press Writer

Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and lay the foundations for counteracting it.

"I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize," Gore said. "We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."

Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth," a documentary on global warming, won an Academy Award this year and he had been widely expected to win the prize.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said global warming, "may induce large-scale migration and lead to greater competition for the earth's resources. Such changes will place particularly heavy burdens on the world's most vulnerable countries. There may be increased danger of violent conflicts and wars, within and between states."

Gore said he would donate his share of the $1.5 million that accompanies the prize to the Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan nonprofit organization devoted to conveying the urgency of solving the climate crisis.

"His strong commitment, reflected in political activity, lectures, films and books, has strengthened the struggle against climate change," the Nobel citation said. "He is probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted."

Lauded for fostering, promoting and perpetuating lies. What a world we're building.

He is in good company with Yassar Arrafat and Jimmy Carter. Good Grieg! And a British court has made his film illegal in schools and found it contains false information.

Ah, I see this thread has already been infiltrated by the usual tired old bunch of climate-change deniers! You go on keeping your heads in the sand, lads!

In the first place, we are not "lads." In the second place, your post shows how ill informed you are. The question is not over whether climate is changing. One can look at the ice melting at the poles and figure that out. The question is whether it is man made, or a long term, natural cycle.

It helps to read and research before you type.

To those who know no Greek, anthropogenic = man-made.

The current climate change agenda of the lefties is tied into not only the environment but abortion, birth control, population control, and the humane society. It is a movement to bring in a global socialist government that of course removes all freedoms from people to ensure fairness, communism, and earth worship.

But you can take part in all that if you want to. Right now we still have the freedom to choose either way. If the lefties have their way there will come a day when we will not.

Psst...I'm not a lefty, I voted Conservative in the last general election and I'm anti-abortion, pro-marriage, and against earth-goddess-worship etc. But that doesn't mean that I can't spot the glaringly obvious when it's right in front of me.

 You think that Fido is a Leftist? Most of the dogs I know are pretty much conservatives - "I'll conserve my food and I'll conserve yours while I am at it" and most of the cats I know are pretty much libertarians - "I'll go where I want when I want". :)

Evangelical Leaders Exploited by Global Warming--Population Control Lobby

WASHINGTON and GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Sept. 29, 2006) — Why would a pro-abortion foundation want to fund an Evangelical Christian initiative to fight global warming?
That question is raised in From Climate Control to Population Control: Troubling Background on the “Evangelical Climate Initiative,” a new paper jointly released by the Acton Institute for the Study of Religion & Liberty and the Institute on Religion and Democracy.
The “Evangelical Climate Initiative” (ECI) was launched in February in what was described by its organizers as a Bible-based response to global warming. The 86 prominent signers argued that “this is God's world and any damage that we do to God's world is an offense against God Himself.” Moreover, ECI proponents claimed that “most of the climate change problem is human induced” and makes predictions that that “millions of people could die in this century.”
What the publicity surrounding the ECI failed to disclose was that the initiative dangerously connects an Evangelical “creation care” ethic to those groups that are lobbying for population control and abortion-on-demand. Such efforts, if successful, would give anti-Christian ideologies unmerited moral and theological cover that they now lack.

Well, if true, that's unfortunate, but choosing the wrong bedfellows doesn't change the morality of the anti-climate change cause.
