GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS AT WORK

According to the LA Times, almost 100,000 California high school seniors...about 20% of that state's entire senior class...can't pass the graduation exam. If they don't pass by June, they won't graduate. What is it that they are finding so hard to master? Math and English. Must be pretty hard stuff, right? Well, not really. The test is geared toward an eighth grade level in Math and ninth or tenth grade levels in English. They're not even being challenged with material from their own grade level, and 1 in 5 are choking.

So who is to blame? Let's start with where you will never hear blame assigned: the government school system which has pushed along people to the point that they arrive in the 12th grade and can't pass an 8th grade math test. Why have they arrived at this point? Because the public school system in California (or government schools, as they should be more correctly called) has been more concerned about their self esteem than whether or not they're learning anything.

What's worse? There is actually a plan afoot to hand out alternate diplomas and graduation certificates to people who can't pass. And people wonder why some students are illiterate.

Doesn't mattter. The purpose of govt schools is to produce drones who will be steered by the teacher's children who are educated by private schools.
