According to published reports all persons filing income tax returns in 2010 (for 2009) will be required to list all guns they have or own. Question; will you answer truthfully or lie about it?

This was passed as an ammendment Feb. 25, 2009 to the 1986 IRS Act and did not come up for a vote.

This is false. It's an urban legend.
Hmmm, you're asking is a person will engage in sin or not. Odd question.

For some reason, I cannot get the link to open. I really would like to see this if it's true.

There are TONS of things that get added in committee to bills and even on the floor through amendments. This never, never, never came to be a law. Check the link below:

    http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/taxreturns.asp

Why would any Bible believing Christian lie about this?

Our obligation is to Christ and to honor those He has put over us in leadership. Even if this was a law it would be our obligation to be truthful. Guns are not a biblically mandated freedom for us as Christians.

No... but they're a mandated freedom to us as Americans.

That right is not unlimited, neither is it to be devoid of regulation. But that's a different topic altogether. The question is whether one would outright lie. A Christian has no business lying about it.

That said, the OP is false anyway, so it's a nonissue.

What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand?
What part of "shall not be infringed" means it is limited or has regulations?
    Talk about a nonsequiter.

(Satire).... Amendment 13 'One may have a swimming pool any where, time, and place that one chooses on one's property. This is a right guaranteed by the Constitution. It "shall not be infringed".

Added later (unconstitutionally) by people who are poolophobes: Except on Tuesdays when the moon is not full and on any day that the stars are not aligned so that the people born under the sign of Pisces and Aquarius are not offended by plump people in swimsuits that are best left to teenagers. Futhermore, all pools must be clorinated at all times and also................(Please see the thousands of other laws pertaining to pools regulations that are never used, enforced or used against the criminal element but are enforced on law-abiding citizens.)
Thanks for playing. Try again? Re-set? Quit?

From the www.senate.gov site, listed by Berean:

"Is it true that . . . Senate Bill SB-2099 will require owners of firearms to pay a $50 charge per gun and list each gun on their federal tax form?

The answer is no. This Internet rumor states that SB-2099 is legislation currently being considered by the Senate. The bill supposedly requires owners of firearms to list on their 1040 tax return all guns they own and then pay a $50 charge per firearm. There is no such legislation by this name in the 111th Congress.
    The facts:
    • The last bill given the number S. 2099 was in the 105th Congress. This bill dealt with federal sentencing guidelines for counterfeiting offenses.
    • Legislation that the Senate is currently working on will be listed on the Active Legislation page or can be searched for on Thomas. For more information about the legislative process or finding bills, please see the Legislation VRD page."

Apart from the fact that this law is right or wrong, in which way would it matter that the government lists the weapons everyone owns ? By the way, when you buy a gun (that's the way it works here), the armory makes you fill in a form which is sent to the police that repertories the weapons you bought, is it the same in USA ?

The Federal Tax agency has no business collecting that kind of information. It is left to the states to do.

Even if it were true, it is NOT a question of "to lie" or "not to lie" but IMO a right of non-disclosure of private information.

    From the Bill of Rights:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed".

I would simply write the following statement on the weapon list column.

"To ask such a question on a tax form is an 'a priori' infringement of my right to keep and bear arms".

Or "a request of this kind constitutes an unreasonable 'search' with no probable cause"

Or a case could also be made from another guarantee granted by the Bill of rights, the Fifth Amendment. "Why is this information necessary? Until I have that reason I stand upon my right of the probability of incriminating myself and respectfully decline to give this information".

Yes, I realize that Big Brother has also asked questions like "how many toilets do you have?" on the census forms.

As the government grows our privacy and freedoms diminish and the Bill of Rights is revised (after all it is a "living and breathing" document) into extinction.

A nonissue, since the OP is false, and there is no such collecting of information by tax authorities.
