Does anyone know how to recover data from an SD card. I have no idea what happened to the card. I use it in place of a floppy backup for my microsoft money files and my taxes.

I needed a copy of my taxes and had printed them. The next time I went to put a back up on the card I keep getting an insert disk message from my card reader. My card reader is a combo floppy/card reader so I tried a usb card reader also with the same result. Anyone got any ideas?

I'd reboot your system if you haven't already. Then if it still doesn't work I'd find a freind and try to access it on their computer to be sure it isn't your reader/system.
You might do a google for "sd card recovery" or something similar and see if there are any programs designed for recovery - have never seen one, but I don't know everything - just most everything.

Yeah, try a different reader on a different computer.
Also, if you know of anyone with a Mac, try using it with that and a USB reader. If you have a virus, the Mac will be able to get to the data while immune to the virus itself.
I have seen cards go bad before though and usually they are toast.
BUt I didn't have important info on them so I just got a new one.

I'll go on to say, If a mac can not read it chances are your data is gone. If you find someone that has a mac and they are running OS9, ....OS9 will see all the files, even the hidden ones. The next step would be to try OSX. If the files are not listed on the disk, you will have to turn on "hidden files" when you "find files".

    I hope this helps.. :)
