Since twice as many people self identify as conservative as liberal... the Dems rightly calculate that they can't win running to the left.

It is a myth that the Dem base didn't show up. They did- motivated by blind hatred for Bush... and still lost.

Kerry in losing still had the second highest vote total in history. So, it isn't that the base isn't showing up... it's that it is too small to win elections if conservatives are supportive of the Republican or motivated against the Dem.

I don't think Hillary can win a two person race since more conservatives will be motivated to vote against her than liberals will be motivated to vote for her. Unfortunately, this will probably result in a President John McCain.

BTW, race baiting is not a new ploy for Hillary or Bill... or liberals in general for that matter.

Trent Lott's effort to say something nice about a retiring, nearly dead Senator was much more benign than Hillary's statement.

Of course liberal double standards and hypocrisy know no bounds...

Hillary did not say it for press coverage. She said it for unsundry reasons and because she thought it was business as usual. In other words, she thought she could practice racial politics and the liberal press would give her a pass as they always have, Nagin thought the same thing. Well it looks like folks are wising up about reverse racism. I think this well really hurt the democrats who have already lost white southern democrats by the boat loads.

My 2nd post and I'm getting inolved with politics! Nobody knows me here but I just couldn't resist my two-cents worth.

I don't know if I would say "race-mongering" is the proper way of expressing what Clinton said, but she certainly used the race-card. It's definitely gotten to the point of "us" vs. "them". The democrats no longer adhere to Christian principles. It amazes me if any evangelical Christian could support a democrat. A Christian supporting a Democrat is like a Jewish person supporting the Nazi Party.

Unfortunately, as the Democrats think they have African-Americans in their pocket, the Republicans have Christians in theirs. But what choice do we have?
