    The premise of that which you assert is the topic is in error. I will quote you directly from your op:

    "There seems to be a number of people in our society that when they hear the word Hispanic or Latino they automatically think illegal."

    You have yet to clear up who these people are and just what the number is who believe and think this way. Since your premise is without clarity, and I believe faulty, then it is impossible and illogical to actually address the rest of the op. Now I have asked you in a civil and reasonable manner to give some clarity on that statement. What I have been met with, from you, is inflammatory responses and personal attacks.

    So, without your inflammatory rhetoric, obfuscation of my question, and personal attacks please clear up the very first sentence of your op with more specificity.

    Your op comes across as angry and sensationalistic. While there may be a reasonable thought, (if taken by themselves) in your op when you look at the op as a whole it is itself without clarity and looks like political propaganda. You come across as someone who is looking to frame the discussion so that you can corner someone.

    What this does not do is come across as loving, and desiring discussion with your brothers and sisters in Christ. It certainly does not come across as reasonable.

    That in a nutshell is what is wrong with politics today. Everyone is trying to "do" for everyone - be all things to attract all people.

    If both parties would decide who/what they REALLY are and what they REALLY believe then put that out for America to decide on - which they want to follow and vote we might get somewhere.

    I've told that to one of the Rep. reps here in OR and he just looks at me - I know - STUPID - we gotta go buy votes.

    That topic isn't defined in the OP.

    So how many people think "illegal" when they hear the word "Hispanic"?

    It is the opening premise to the OP.

    I did not realize that. I have hispanic friends (1st generation citizens from Mexico) who are very opposed to illegal immigration (more than I, but they live close to the border so perhaps they see more of an impact?).

    But I don't doubt it. Here's an illustration:

    My sister in law is half vietnamese. Her father was stationed in Vietnam and married a Vietnamese woman (who, BTW, is a very loving woman and a good cook :thumbs: ). My sister in law allowed an elderly man to go in front of her at the grocery. He accepted the offer and commented "you need to leave my country and go back to Mexico." She was, of course, born here and as far as she knows none of her family has ever seen Mexico. My nephew was walking down his street and a man (a homeowner a few houses down...and a police officer) cussed at him and told him that he needed to leave the country. A 12 year old doesn't understand ignorance to that degree.

    So I don't doubt you at all.

    The crab seems to have become the politically correct mouthpiece. I am not one of those who think every Latino/Hispanic/Mexican/Asian is an illegal. And maybe those living in small town crabtown areas of the country do not have the same surge of illegals living among them as us Western border states do, but were you to live here, you may eat those words.

    So points to the Rev for keen insight, and boo boo's to ctb for being out of touch. :smilewinkgrin:
