Our billions we spend buying Chinese goods are helping to finance the enemy killing our troops. Remember that next time you go shopping and buy "Made in China." That pair of shoes you buy just might be helping to buy some Chinese ammo for the Taliban to use. Americans are just plain dumb, aren't we?

I don't get it. Does the Taliban shop at WalMart too?

This is really reaching hard. You ask how dumb are Americans? Not dumb enough to believe this line of reasoning.

The truth is, every time the Taliban fires a round of Chinese ammunition, they are helping pay for my new shoes... wait...

PL, why is this a stretch? It just follows a logical chain of thought, IMO, that we should not help finance those who use that financial gain made from us to manufacturer weapons to sell to our enemies to kill us.

Thats a different issue altogether. Personally, I think we should be very concerned about China using money that we spend on plastic garbage to build up their own military.

I don't think it is logical at all. Imagine the possibilities here: Eating at McDonalds is helping to kill people because you are paying to hire the people who is serving bad food to people.

Buying Fords is helping to kill our fellow man because drunk people drive Fords and kill people sometimes.

Buying from American businesses is helping to kill Iraqis because the US government is killing Iraqis.

Your argument is depending on the very farthest reaches of a trickle down economy. The truth is that most money that Americans pay for Chinese products goes to Chinese businessmen who hire people to make goods. Furthermore, were it not for the availability of lower priced Chinese made goods, the economy of the US would be in dire straights since very few could afford to buy American made products, and since no one could buy them, Americans would lose jobs. Living in a global economy is something people are going to have to get used to.

I am not saying that it is good that Chinese workers make little money, or that it is good that people buy Chinese made products. But the reality is that there is virtually no other way that would not destroy the economy of the US and the world. Labor costs are a huge percentage of the cost of stuff. That's just the reality of it.

I think we should be concerned about it too. But what's a viable alternative?

LE, more often than not, when I read your posts (and I do read most all of them) I tend to lean towards your line of thinking.

But, in this case, I am going to have to concur with Pastor Larry's points in his extended post. I think he reasoned it out quite well.

China would probably still supply the Taliban even if Americans didn't buy their goods , they are most likely making tons of money off the intrest we are paying them on money the U.S has borrowed to finance the war in Iraq.

So far China has been willing to finance the wars we can't afford to pay for ourselves. Mighty good of them to take on our debts like that. I wonder how much longer they'll be willing to do it though. Someday they're gonna send us a bill we can't pay. What then, give them another deep water port? How about a state of their own? New York or Florida maybe? Can't give em any of 'our' natural wonders the UN already has control of them.

Give 'em California. They are already headed toward communism and they are the closest except for Hawaii (too beautiful to be Chinese) and Alaska (too much oil we need).

Why not California, eh? The communist Chinese already control the only deep water port on the west coast that just happens to be in California. Good idea, from there it wouldn't be a bad idea to let them have "free movement of goods and people" from, say the ports they control in Mexico along the Nafta Super Highway all the way to alaska. That would bring commerce and good tidings to fat lazy decadent American workers and be fair for all forever and ever. So much for "Made in the USA".
