Its been a full two weeks since New Years Day. I know alot of people make resolutions & end up breaking them (or not). My question is: Who has made resolutions & stuck with them so far?

My resolution started on Christmas Day when I got a glass scale that has a maximum weight capacity of 440 LBS. Since then I have been tracking my weight. I currently weigh 360 LBS. My ultimate goal is to weigh between 190 & 220 LBS. 220 was what I weighed when I graduated high school. I had the look of a lightweight, in a heavyweight's body.

My plan is to not fully dive into dieting & exercising. Instead, I'll start off slow. I started walking two miles, twice a week. My weight has varied between 370 LBS & 360 LBS since. To ensure that my weight drops further, this week I have decided to walk two miles, four times a week. When my weight seems to stalemate, I'll go a bit further by eating less. Beyond that, I'll start cutting unhealthy foods out one at a time & start substituding them with healthy ones.

I also make sure to weigh in two times a day. I weigh in when I wake up in the morning & when I come home from work (which is generally after my 2 mile walk). I am very particular about how I weigh in. Most people weigh in once a week. I have found if I do that, I won't be able to stay on top of my weight. When I weigh in, it makes me want to do more to get lower. Weighing in twice a day, keeps me in an obsessed state of mind. I have to be that way if I am going to lose weight. Here are ground rules I have set for myself for weighing in:

    1. Always weigh in on my scale; Not someone else's.
    2. Always weigh in with no clothes on.
    3. Do not eat or drink anything prior to weighing in.
    4. Try using the bathroom before weighing in.
    5. Always weigh yourself at least two times to ensure you get the same reading.
    6. Always record your results.

I'll be honest. When I started this, I wasn't enthusiastic about it. I know that it works. In 2006, I lost 55 LBS. I started with excessive walking. When I noticed weight starting to drop, I made changes that caused my weight to drop further. In all honesty, five of those pounds that I lost was from when I caught the flu. At that time my weight dropped from 360 LBS to 305 LBS. At the 305 pound mark, even though that was still extremely overweight, I felt as light as a feather. I actually felt like I could outrun anyone.

Enough about my routine & resolution. How is everyone else's going?

So far, for many years I have been able to keep my resolutions and have never broken one . 1,000 perfect. This year my resolution was, to never again eat a hot dog, unless I was with someone or by my self

I thought a hot dog was all American.

I made a resolution to increase my weekly allowance. One pitfall. Wife controls my allowance.

    I am a complete failure!

    Cheers,

    Jim

I do admire you and wish you every success. I don't make resolutions at New Year, but I am trying to get fitter and lose a few pounds.
Please keep us posted with your progress?

    Blessings

A few years back, I think in 2005 I made a New Year's resolution. It was to make no more New Year's resolutions. I failed on that in 2007.

I made a resolution (that was not a New Year's resolution, incidentally), several years ago to make no more New Year's resolutions. So far, at least, I've kept it perfectly!

A few years ago, I hit about 315-320, myself. I dropped a few pounds, over time, to about 300, then another little drop to about 280, then a third drop to about 210, where I am now. PM me, and I'll tell you how I dropped the first few, and how NOT to drop that last 70 or so, as I did.

Is that your firm determination or resolve?
