How Do You Dress for Church on Sundays?

You are going to meet the KING of KINGS

I dress to meet the KING OF KINGS.

 

I meet Him in the shower, laying in bed, driving the car, etc.

 

How do I dress for church?

As casually as I can get away with.

I...never...never...never...get "dressed up" to go fellowship with my brothers and sisters and worship my God and Savior. Its unimaginable to me to get all "dressed up" for church.

I've never been able to comprehend why people would do that, but I would never never try to talk anyone out of "dressing up" if they feel want to.

To each their own, as they say.

 

Depends. If I'm preaching, then, obviously, a suit or at least a jacket and tie. If I'm not, then, probably still a jacket and tie.

I never understood the idea of dressing casually for church.

 

I've never served a church; God is the One I serve. However, I've always been one who feels I should set a good example and dress the best I can while serving the Lord as a song leader. I never in my life saw any adult come to church in shorts until I moved to Florida, and it seems to be very common here. It took me a long time before I wore them to Wednesday evening service. The pastor and others did so I figured "Why not?"

 

Are you trying to impress Him (I recall Him saying something about those who dressed that way)
You wear a tuxedo to church? Why not dress the way the KING OF KINGS dressed and the way those met Him did?

 

If you have served your fellow brother or sister in Christ, you have served a church. They go hand in hand, btw (Matthew 25)

 

I was taught (and still believe) that is it appropriate to elevate your level of behavior and dress when you go to church. It is respectful. I always wear a dress to church, I don't wear dresses to work or to shop or anything else unless it is a dressy occasion like a special night to dinner, but church worship calls for respect and an attitude adjustment.

Aren't we a fortunate people to be able to decide what we want to wear to church?! No, really, I mean it. If you have a closet full of clothes where you can decide whether or not to dress up or dress casually, you are very fortunate.

Come visit my remote village church. Your feelings on dressing for church may change...

 

That is well and good; been there with my mama.

But I think we should elevate our behavior and attitude when we our out in our daily lives. That in itself is an act of worship.

I don't know about y'all, but with this weather we're having, I'll be surprised if we even get to have church tomorrow. If we do, I'll be in a thick sweater, warm slacks, and a heavy winter coat!

 

I wonder what eskimoes wear to church?

 

Better watch out cuz you know wearing pants leads to dancing.

 

We're Square Dancing tomorrow and getting a Pa Kettle look a like to call the steps. :laugh:

 

And we all know what dancing leads to. :laugh:
