I use only the KJV, I stand outside the CCM movement, and my wife doesn't wear pants. I am...
I can't answer that question.
Does your wife wear dresses only because you and/or she believes that it adds to her justification? Do you feel that a woman like me who wears pants is less justified?
If not, then it doesn't matter. I'm quite happy for her to wear all the dresses she chooses to.
Same thing with KJV and CCM. If it's a preference or conviction, I say, more power to you.
If you feel these things add to your spiritual nature and detract from others, then I would have to call you a legalist.
But I don't know what you believe about these things. So I can't and don't want to call you anything. :flower:
Are theses qualifications convictions of the heart or standards by which to judge man?
pants to me is under garments! So, I hope all women wear pants.........and trousers if it is appropriate. I saw a woman in a dress mount a tractor the other day and it wasn't a pretty site!!
One can get as foolish as he pleases thinking he is biblical, but where are his sandals and long gowns?
I remember when women wore hats, even in the house, and did not sit as at the same dinner table as men. Thank God we adjust to the times and culture.
I use only the KJV; I have no idea what CCM is, and I see nothing wrong with women wearing women's pants. We all have our preferences and personal convictions. If God's word says nothing about something, then it isn't an issue in my opinion.
Don't know based on what you've said. Can you give us more information?
Can you tell me where you use only the KJV -- in the pulpit or in personal study too? Why do you use only the KJV? What do you believe about other translations? What do you think about those who use other translations?
While I didn't know CCM was a movement, can you state why you don't like CCM? Is this a preference or a conviction? Do you not like it in the church or in general? What do you think about those who do like CCM?
Why does your wife only wear dresses?
May I ask why it is important how we see you?
Pastors, did you ever have one of those situations in which you were trying to open a discussion and the first respondent gave your final answer, so the whole thing kind of becomes moot? That's what Scarlett just did to me. Perfect answer. The issue is the heart in all of these areas. Is it possible for us to go through Biblical thought processes and arrive at different conclusions in some of these issues? Of course. But I have seen, multiple times on the BB, people labeled as legalistic, etc. even by moderators for simply holding these positions (at least the KJV and dress ones).
The issue, of course, is whether we have gone through biblical thought processes. If I use the KJV because it was good enough for Paul and Silas, or if I reject it because of "scholarship," I am wrong, even if my position is right. Same with the other 2 issues mentioned and all others. If I have allowed the world or tradition alone to dictate my choices, standards, etc, then I am not thinking Biblically.
Understand your point, but God's Word says nothing about smoking pot - is it not an issue? No, God's Word doesn't spell out everything in black and white, but we do have to use a biblical thought process to arrive at our conclusions about the things it does not specifically address.
Sure, you may ask. Of course, it's not important. I don't care what any of you think of me (in the proper sense). I am to perform for an audience of One.
Just interested in how people would respond to the issues; hoping to open a conversation.
Understood! I agree about the issue of whether we are thinking Biblically. There is too little of that with adherents of almost all positions..
I didn't think out my answer too clearly as usual. Since I never smoked pot or did any illegal drugs, that just didn't enter my mind.
I belong to a Church where no female wears mens clothing. It no longer is an issue for me but it certainly would be IF I was married to a man who insisted that I do this and then wore female clothing at any time.
