I found this in my "System Information":

    Processor x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~2386 Mhz

Does this mean that my CPU speed is approximately 2.386 Ghz?

Thanks for the replies. To particpate in a project that I am thinking about joining my CPU needs to be at least 1.2 Ghz. So I guess my CPU is adquate. :)

I'm just kidding but do they have a requirement for the one between the ears?

Actually, there probably is one for between the ears as what I am looking to become involved in is available to everyone on the
    Internet. :)

    Not speed.......

The killer, of course, is usually not processing speed but the memory installed. Nothing speeds up a PC like adding more RAM. Many of today's apps are really hogs and end up really slogging down your PCs performance.

If you find your PC is slow consider adding memory. It's way cheap these days.

What is it that you are going to become involved in? How can I get involved?

The Lord willing, in the near future, I am going to be a volunteer DJ at www.worldwidebluegrass.com and host a show called "Sunrise Bluegrass" on Saturday mornings from 7:00-10:00 a.m. central time. I will be playing songs from my bluegrass CD collection - I have well over 700 songs already.

Does the website have to pay copyright royalties on the songs you play or can you play it free if you are not for profit?

Based on the rules that have to be followed I am pretty sure that royalties are paid. I have to make sure that the artist and the song is uploaded to the site where I will be pulling songs from or else I can't play the song.

Just keep watching my signature line. When this starts in a few weeks it will be noted there.

    Thanks. :)

You have to add ram, fast processor, fast video card, and fast hard drive to get real speed. You also have to have heat sensor to make sure you do not overheat. You may have to add a cooling system, such as a "water" cooler for the processor. You also can overclock most of all the items except the hard drive. I did run over 4.0 but quit the fast stuff, so I slowed my back down, so as not to burn it up. Was fun for a while though being faster than anyone else. Only reason to run that fast is for the "new" games out now. If you are not in to games, don't worry about it, as long as you are running over 2.0 and have around 1 Mg of memory. You have to be careful of water cooled processors for leakage, for you will blow everything. Oh, did I mention you also, must have a fast motherboard. You are talking around $4,000 dollars at least.
