As I do hold to that being the case!
Allow me to say that I wish Zondervan would continue to produce the 1984 edition. But I do have ample stocks of them, enough to last until either Jesus returns or calls me home.
I am not a total fan of the 1984 NIV, but I much prefer it to the 2011 version.
There are some improvements in the 2011, but the use of the plural to avoid the masculine gender kills it for me.
After considering both I'm not gonna move from the 84 to the 11 anytime soon.
The decisions about the changes, and the changes themselves weren't sufficient, IMHO, to warrant a new translation.
I like them all, but I think the TNIV is the best of the group.
