West backs Nazis in Ukraine, compares Putin to Hitler for trying to stop them.

March 12, 2014 (Tony Cartalucci - New Eastern Outlook) - Blanket denials have been made across the Western media regarding the presence of Neo-Nazis among the ranks of "Euromaidan" mobs that had rioted in Kiev for months before finally executing a coup, ousting the democratically elected government of Ukranian President Viktor Yanukovych. A prime example of this was the Daily Beast’s article, “Putin’s Crimea Propaganda Machine,” which disingenuously twists reality by stating:

...Putin needed a story to spin, no matter how full of holes, and thus the neo-Nazi claims. But as it turns out, Crimea’s streets are not exactly paved with extremists—a fact that has proven troublesome for Russian state TV channels looking to find token far-right bogeymen.

And of course, Crimea's streets are not full of Neo-Nazis, because the population of eastern Ukraine wholly rejects the abhorrent ideology of the "Euromaidan's" Nazi vanguard, and backs Russian forces who have been permanently stationed there for years under treaty and as a consequence, have deterred any abusive incursions by the far-right into the region.

Still, the impression the Daily Beast would like to get across to readers is that the concept of Neo-Nazis leading the so-called "revolution" in Kiev, is absurd. In fact, the truth that Kiev's Independence Square was full of Nazis, was right under the nose of the entire world - with a handful of Western journalists even admitting as much.

Poncho, would you stop using the Kremlin's dictionary to determine who's who in this conflict.
    1. I am not saying folks on the far right of the Ukrainian political spectrum are not involved with the protests.
    2. I am saying according to the Kremlin's dictionary any 2014 patriotic Ukrainian Nationalist is a "Nazi".
    3. If you looked at Wikipedia, you'd find the "Right Sector" is only one of three elements on Maidan Square. Euromaidan is the transliteration of the Ukrainian word meaning Eurosquare.

Please see wiki Euromaidan article. I'll let you sort out the tangle of political spaghetti.

My question is do we support the Kremlin imperialists or the Ukrainian nationalists. Remember much of the Western and Southern Ukraine were not part of the Soviet Union until after WW2.

    Why,

Poncho, are you so eager to carry Putin's and the Kremlin's water on this matter?

    See, it's like this....

When Islamic terrorists attack the U.S. on our own soil and the neo-cons send troops into Afghanistan to root them out, Poncho calls that imperialism and war-mongering. When we take preemptive action by invading Iraq that is imperialism and war-mongering based on mistaken identities, calling Iraqi Baathists Al Queda, for example.

But when Putin claims Nazi's are being financed and propped up by neo-cons and these Nazi's are behind pro-democracy demonstrations in Ukraine and therefore Russia needs to invade Crimea to protect the citizens there, well, that is just peachy keen.

Why Vladimir Putin Will Keep Playing Jewish Card in Ukraine Crisis

Keeping West Off Balance Is an End in Itself for Kremlin

"...The goal of the Kremlin’s propaganda campaign is to weaken public support for the Ukrainian revolution in Europe and the United States by “playing the Jewish card” and conjuring up images of pogroms. It is based on the assumption that Jews are well-represented in the opinion-making elite of the US, and that the European Union is deeply sensitive to Holocaust memory, xenophobia and racism. Since anti-Semitism has figured prominently in Ukrainian history, and the junior partner in the revolution, the Svoboda party, is in fact anti-Semitic, the campaign has just enough basis in reality to dampen Western support for the new regime in Kiev.

The Jewish situation on the ground differs widely from the Kremlin’s phantoms. Last week, the All-Ukrainian Jewish Congress conducted a conference-call with leaders from 29 Jewish communities across the country, and asked whether there had been a rise in anti-Semitism. 27 communities reported that the situation was calm and normal, 2 communities (Sevastopol and Vinnitsa) expressed concern about anti-Semitic statements emanating from… Russia and pro-Russian groups.

The Ukrainian interim government is a mixed bag. Most of its 22 ministers are from the mainstream, liberal Fatherland Union. 4 ministers are from Svoboda, and one of its three deputy prime ministers is Jewish — former Vinnitsa mayor Vladimir Groisman. Groisman was reelected for his second term with an astounding 78% of the vote. (So much for ubiquitous Ukrainian anti-Semitism)...."

    [add] (Putin is really clever)

"...The next stage in Moscow’s “playing the Jewish card” is about to unfold. The Kremlin is backing the candidacy of former Kharkov provincial governor Mikhail Dobkin in the Ukrainian presidential elections, slated for May 25.

Dobkin is a loyal backer of Putin. He is also Jewish — and has virtually no chance of winning the election. But that’s not the Kremlin’s goal. Their goal is to sow discord and dissention in Ukrainian society. And to drive a wedge between the new regime and the West
. You can be sure that once the Dobkin-campaign declares the Maidanists “Nazis”, there will be Ukrainians who will call the Moscow stooge a “zhid”. And the Jewish question will occupy center-stage, in a country with under 100,000 Jews."

The Western Media Is A Lie Factory

Someone is lying to us. Is it the New York Times and the Guardian, or is it Julie Hyland?

Julie Hyland describes the neo-nazi forces that Washington’s Ukrainian coup either by intention or incompetence has installed in the violent seizure of power. Washington describes this unelected government, whose words and deeds have caused Crimea to declare its independence from the coup government in Kiev and have caused widespread protests against the coup government in Russian speaking eastern Ukraine,
as a “democracy.” If so, it is the first unelected democracy.

The New York Times and the UK Guardian, indeed, practically the entire Western media, have taken the position that there is no fascist or neo-nazi element in the coup government. However, I have seen the videos available on the Internet (and some are linked in my previous columns) of the thugs threatening government ministers in one location and assaulting a public prosecutor in another. There are also videos of the ultra-right decked out in nazi symbols and armed with weapons.

My opinion is that it is the Western media that is lying, and that Julie Hyland is telling it like it is. You can read her account here: http://www.globalresearch.ca/the-fa...of-neo-nazism-denied-by-western-media/5372109

    http://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2014/03/11/western-media-lie-factory-paul-craig-roberts/

Nope, I'm just not ready to jump into bed with nazis to spite the russians.

Every war or intervention Washington has got us into in the last 40 has been based on lies. Why should this one be any different?

My opinion is that it is the Western media that is lying, and that Julie Hyland is telling it like it is.

A politically sinister propaganda offensive is underway in the media to either deny the involvement of fascists in the US-backed coup in Ukraine or present their role as a marginal and insignificant detail.

The New York Times, for example, asserted, “Putin’s claim of an immediate threat to Ukrainian Russians is empty,” while Britain’s Guardian dismissed as a “fancy” claims that events in Crimea were an attempt to “prevent attacks by bands of revolutionary fascists,” adding that “the world’s media has [not] yet seen or heard from” such forces.

    This is an obscene cover-up.

The reality is that, for the first time since 1945, an avowedly anti-Semitic, pro-Nazi party controls key levers of state power in a European capital, courtesy of US and European imperialism. The unelected Ukrainian government, headed by US appointee Arseniy Yatsenyuk, includes no fewer than six ministers from the fascist Svoboda party.

Less than a year ago, the World Jewish Congress called for Svoboda to be banned. But the party’s founder and leader, Oleh Tyahnybok, who has spoken repeatedly of his determination to crush the “Russkie-Yid mafia that controls Ukraine,” was feted by US and European Union officials as they prepared last month’s coup.

Following the 2010 conviction of John Demjanjuk as an accomplice in the murder of nearly 30,000 people in the Nazi concentration camp at Sobibor, Tyahnybok called him a hero. Tyahnybok’s deputy, Yuriy Mykhalchyshyn, founded a think tank called the Joseph Goebbels Political Research Center.

Svoboda was the major political force in the Maidan protests that overthrew Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych. In return for providing the shock troops for the coup, it has been given control of vital ministries.

Svoboda co-founder Andriy Parubiy acted as “security commandant” in the protests, directing attacks by the Right Sector—an alliance of fascists and extreme right-wing nationalists, including the paramilitary Ukrainian National Assembly-Ukrainian National Self Defense (UNA-UNSO). Dressed in uniforms modelled on Hitler’s Waffen SS, its members boast of fighting Russia in Chechnya, Georgia and Afghanistan.

Parubiy is now secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, overseeing the Defence Ministry and the armed forces. Dmytro Yarosh, leader of the Right Sector, is his deputy.

Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Sych is another leading Svoboda figure, as is Oleh Makhnitsky (prosecutor-general), Serhiy Kvit (Education Minstry), Andriy Makhnyk (Ecology Ministry) and Ihor Shvaiko (Agriculture Ministry).

Others reportedly connected to UNA-UNSO are Dmytro Bulatov (youth and sports minister) and the “activist” journalist Tetyana Chernovol, who was named chair of the government’s anti-corruption committee.

The hero of Svoboda and UNA-UNSO is the Nazi collaborator Stepan Bandera, leader of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (OUN), which aided the Nazis in horrific massacres of the Jewish population.
