I live in Argentina. The government here came out in a pretty strong denial of any involvement. Its interesting getting your news from sources outside the US.

Hugo Chavez involved in something illegal and illecit? No way! The same Hugo Chavez who is trying to rid his country of the constitution and make himself dictator. The same Hugo Chavez who is best buds with the Hairy Little Thug in Iran and Fidel Castor...i'm shocked!
    OK, maybe not so much.

The people of Venezuela did not allow this to happen fortunately. Chavez received a pretty clear message that democracy is what people want.

Nothing less. However if the US were accused of the same, I would expect a similar reaction. By the way, the money really was not needed. Christina Kirchner already had the election wrapped up. She dominated in the election despite not winning the largest cities.

I praise God for the mighty work He is doing in Venezuela even though most Americans don't know how the Holy Spirit is working in the lives of people and nations all over the world and how much the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed to the masses. Hallelujah!

I wonder if the Florida businessman that acted as a courier for Hugo Chavez will ever be revealed? Wouldn't taking money from one country to fix an election in another country be considered an act of treason?

Why would it be an act of treason?. Besides, I may be mistaken but the money never really ended up in Argentine hands.

This kind of stuff goes on all the time in the rest of the world and we hardly here about it. These reason this surfaced is because it is a potential opportunity to expose Chavez.

If true (I believe the US attorney still has to make a case, though from the sounds of it there is sufficient evidence) this will help prove that fact that Chavez does try to influence other South American nations.

I believe the FL businessman was Venezuelan not north American. And the money, I think, was to help finance Christina KirchnerĀ“s campaign. I would not call that exactly a campaign fix, nevertheless it is wrong and dirty.

:BangHead: "Not for the American." is a statement meaning there is no possibility of a treason charge.

"How about for the Argentinian taking the money?" was a question, not a statement. I know nothing of Argentina's laws covering treason.
