Well, I still have not figured out how to put up an image. Oh well ..............
Here you go.
Thanks. I am almost always amazed how a cartoonist can write an entire editorial in one picture.
Yeah, you just gotta know that bin laden and his minions are quaking in their sandals at the thought of a bush to obama transition.
There are a number of ways to take this cartoon. I do not see it the way you suggested at all. The election of Obama has taken away one of their best propaganda weapons. How?
1. Obama is very popular with the average person in the Mid-East. He has taken away much of their relivence to the average person there. They have been loosing sympathy for several years and this pushed them further into a corner.
2. It is hard to hold Obama and the USA up as the Great Satan who will not talk to us. He said he would talk to them.
3. Bush, through the Iraq war, has been the best recruiting tool they could have hoped for. Nothing new in this news. They have lost this recruiting tool.
Will all this be good or bad in the long run? I have no idea. I will let some time pass watching what happens.
Well that all depends on which Obama position you have in mind. Was it the one where he said, "I have never supported engagement with terrorists" ?
Or the one where Hamas says that Obama's aides are already meeting with them?
You mean to say that kicking Al Qaeda out of Afghanistan and Iraq is a great recruiting tool for them? AQ has been humiliated. And they are receiving a great deal of criticism from their former supporters. LINK
And you think that the creator of that cartoon wrote "GET BIN LADEN" next to the drawing of Obama on the newspaper for no reason?
You seem to be bending over backwards to ignore the obvious intent of the the cartoonist to blather on with your own anti-Bush spew.
And yes, I agree with the guitarpreacher that Obama will do little if anything to bring Bin Laden to justice.
You take it as anti-Bush. I do not take it as anti-Bush. I am not sure what the cartoonist was thinking. There are unintended consequences of every action any of us takes. Surely Bush never imagined that invading Iraq would make it much easier for terrorists to use him as a recruiting tool. We each view a cartoon and interprete it in our own way.
I wonder if Bin Laden is still alive. Rumors have said for a number of years that he had/has severe kidney problems and has to be on dialasis.
Obama could not do any worse than Bush has done, which is nothing!
You contradict yourself.
"They have been loosing sympathy for several years"
And this has nothing to do with the war waged against them in Iraq and Afghanistan by Bush?
"Bush, through the Iraq war, has been the best recruiting tool they could have hoped for."
If the Iraq war has been such a good recruiting tool why have they been loosing sympathy for years?
How do you know that Obama has anything to do with sympathy (or lack there of) for terrorists with the average person in the Middle East?
You really should stay up on the news. For the last five years, troops have been in the Middle East and Afghanistan chasing Bin Ladin, and more importantly, destroying his network. Saying that Bush has done nothing indicates that you are don't keep up on current events ... or past events for that matter.
Time to let Bush and his mistakes go. His term in office is over.
Has Bush captured or killed Osama Bin Laden like he said he would? If you read the headline in the cartoon you will see what I was committing about.
David Letterman will miss Mr. Bush. At least he said that the other night.
No, but you said he had done nothing. Your statement was incorrect, and should not have been made to begin with, and should now be corrected. He has done something, though he has not succeeded.
I am well aware of what you were talking about. It was incorrect and should not have been said.
Actually, Bush has put sufficient pressure on Bin Laden and his followers to prevent another attack on U.S. soil.
I would hardly say that is nothing.
You know, these type comments just show the vicious bitterness that the left holds for Bush, regardless of the reality.
Reminds me of a story of a journalist & a dog attack!
Same with the left vs GWB - he can do NOTHING, NOTHING right, even when it IS right!!!
Unfortunately, the Bush administration's mistakes cannot simply be let go. He is turning over the presidency to his successor with the nation in the worst shape it has been in since President Hoover turned the presidency over to President Roosevelt.
I guess you missed the Carter years.
Jimmy Carter didn't leave two wars and an economic meltdown to Ronald Reagan. He left a hostage crisis and a recession.
