The thread on light years got me to thinking about all the mysteries and possibilites there are in the Universe. Of course, we have all seen movies and read books on time travel, such as HG Wells, "The Time Machine" or "Back to the Future."

My question is, if you were given one opportunity to solve a great mystery to you, would you take a trip in a time machine to the Creation, Flood, the Transfiguration, the Ressurection, or maybe some other event in Scripture?

Which one would you choose and why?

I cannot decide between the Ressurection and Creation.

The Resurrection, without a doubt. It is the cornerstone of our faith. It provided visible, physical evidence of life beyond the grave and defeat of death, and the proof that Jesus was Who He said He was. I would have loved to see the resurrected Jesus and talked with Him. The thought of it brings me to tears.

I'm leaning toward the Creation. It would answer a lot of questions, and settle the argument about evolution, how old the earth is, were the six days 24 hours, that sort of thing.

The scripture says Jesus was present at the creation, and so was the Spirit of God. I'd have a better grasp of the Trinity, I think.

I tend to agree. I would like to see the Ressurection, but know it happened a certain way, unlike Creation.

I'm curious why would people other than your self, believe you. They have the Bible and yet most doubt it. Don't you think they would doubt you as well?.

27 “He answered, ‘Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my family, 28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.’

29 “Abraham replied, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

30 “‘No, father Abraham,’ he said, ‘but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.’

31 “He said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’”

In a movie i watched called time machine he went back in time to save his fiancee or soon to be one, but every time he saved her she would die another way. He came to realize he couldn't take the pain of watcher her die again.

I my self would go to the death bed of Paul, not in the beginning of his ministry when he himself was still learning and ask him questions. I don't want this to turn into one of those debate. So that is far as i would go with this.

In the end it would all be as Solomon said

"Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity."

The truth be told we can't change the past, we can prepare but not really change what we don't know what is to come.

What matters is what we do right now, what we do now impacts probably further than we know. I found many things i could not change like people around me no matter how hard a tried. I can change what i do now and it does impact people around me.

I can't change people leaving me, i can't change my boss who wants to fire me. I can't change those who take what i have because i can't afford it no more, or a loved one who passed on. We are stewards of what we have. Death is a reminder to love those who are with us, because we don't know when their work day is done.

I can change my attitude while i am going through the trials in my life. These time of trials, tribulations and tragedy don't last for ever, but eternity with God does.

    Sorry in advance, I can't help myself;

I'd go back to a point wherein which I could ask Christ exactly who it was he died for. There seems to be so much confusion over the world "all" and a few others. :D

If I could go back in time, I would go to your 8th grade graduation......while you were at the ripe old age of 35. Boy, I bet your parents were sure proud of you that day. I heard you told someone you had an eighth grade education, and your mommy heard you, then she told you to stop bragging. LOL.....

Yep, that diploma sure hangs high and proud over your bed. J/K again.....:love2: :flower: :wavey: :D

Actually, I would take the time machine into the distant future, in the wonderful wild land of West Virginia. I guess it would be about 100 years, to see the first wedding ceremony between two individuals who were further apart on the family tree than first cousin.

I heard that when you started school, Lone Oak was just an acorn....:tongue3:

In all seriousness......I heard that when you was 30, you was an all-state power forward for Lone Oak Jr. High. At one time, that school's mascot was the "Fightin' Termites", but one year y'all were destroyed by Orkin Jr. High, and decided to change your mascot name to the "Flyin' J's". Oddly enough, I found out that the "Flyin' J's" was a reference to peanut butter. Now, at first that confused me; what did "Flyin's J's" have to do with peanut butter? I delved a little deeper and found out you Jr. High valedictorian was a girl in the 8th grade special ed classes. She gave her speech on birds, mustard, race cars, boats in the clouds, and her pet canary named "probbabbuttjdyss", but she pronounced that name as "Sammy".

    If It was me....

I love this kind of stuff! If it was me I'd like to step onboard that Time Machine and STEP OFF of it right next to a cemetery about 10 seconds BEFORE the fulfillment of the the "rapture" as told in 1 Thes.4:13-18. I want to live til the time of the 'catching away' of the saints and be there to watch it happen (and participate in it)(TODAY would be just fine with me:smilewinkgrin:). Christ's Resurrection and Ascension sent the example for that. I believe that we'll be given more perfect knowledge of God's great and eternal Acts and events from eternity past, present and future when we stand in His presence so if given the opportunity, I'd just be happy to "fast-forward" to the "goin' HOME" part! Amen?

If you want to confirm that story, you might want to ask your Uncle Dad.

The only confusion comes from non-cals.

Everybody else in the whole WORLD knows that "all" almost never refers to every single person on earth.

The whole WORLD knows that the word "world" almost never refers to every single person on earth.

The only ones confused about that are "non-cals".

You will have wasted a trip if you want to go to the point at which some event occurs to catch just the saints up off of the earth so that they can be spared from a mythological seven years of tribulation.

There is no such event taught in the Scripture.

Now if you mean the general resurrection- great. But this rapture business is new doctrine without Biblical roots.

I would do some research on lottery numbers for the past 10 years or so and go back that amount of time and win several big lotteries to where I become a multi-billionaire. Then I would give most of it away to what I feel to be legitimate Christian charities for the poor and sick and of course missionary endeavors. And with what is left over I would buy MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC and CBS and close them all down. That way Obama would have never been lifted to his lofty perch.:wavey:

Horse betting seems a bit more certain.

How do you ensure that you get the right lotto numbers even if you know what they are?

Yes, that is quite a noble endeavor, but I would stick to the Creation.

Oh, I have no doubt that you are right.

Just imagine a scene where I'm trying to talk to folks who don't believe in God, and I tell them, "Folks lemme tell you about watching the world being created. Ya see, God just spoke it into existence. One the first day...."

"Hold on there. You some sort of weirdo, talkin' all this God stuff?"

"Well, sure, that's what the Bible tells us."

"Har, har, that book of fairy tales. Yep, weirdo, thinks that stuff is real."

But, I'd still try to tell everybody I could

Even today, people feel compelled to witness to the lost, knowing that most of the time their witness will be rejected. But they want to be obedient, and leave the results to God.

    Sorry you feel that way..

The plain English of my King James Bible instructs me...and millions of others differently. While I do concede that the word "rapture" may be modern and relatively new, the event that it describes (being"caught up together with them in the clouds") is as old as the Word of God which is "forever settled in heaven"! One of us is wrong...and unless the Holy Spirit instructs me differently (and I do try to be teachable), I simply cannot concede that it is me. The events described in the scriptures in 1 and 2nd Thessalonians are addressed ONLY to the Blood washed born-again saints of the Lord's church. That is most certainly NOT a "general resurrection". There will be a tribulation as well...and God's redeemed ones, the church, the body of Christ, will NOT be here when it happens. Believe what you will but what you are saying just "ain't so"! There will be a general resurrection of the unsaved dead just prior to the Great White Throne Judgement but that won't happen until the end of the 1000 year Millennial Reign of Of Christ here on earth.Sorry....I can't bite on that hook. But I do respect your right to believe as you feel you have been led. I hope for the same respect in return. I have learned not to expect it here though. It saves me from being disappointed a lot here on the Baptist Board.
