I chose Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyon. A journey in itself.

    Cheers,

But the question is what other Christian book in your library... would be a hard decision for me.

A large print reference bible with a built in concordance and the second book is very debatable but perhaps a well illustrated Bible dictionary/handbook. I really like my Holman Bible Dictionary.

To me it would be a close tie between "Pilgrims Progress" by John Bunyan, and "Knowing God" by J I Packer.

But I think I would take Packers work. Maybe. Not certain.

I would pick the Bible and Hannah Whitehall Smith's "The Christian's Secret of a Happy Life."

By His Grace and For His Glory by Dr. Tom Nettles of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

If I'm going to be stranded for a long time, how about John Gill's Body of Divinity. I need some heavy reading that will last a while, and require me to re-read it several times.

The Bible (NOT a translation in any language)

Christian Book - Lexicon to be sure I understand God's actual words correctly

Non-Christian I like the idea of literature/general education. The "Lincoln Library" woudl be my choice (huge volume, many thousands of pages)

Since I have not found both in one volume, I'd have to rebind a combination of lexicons as "one" book. ;)

Preference would be the Hebrew "Theological Wordbook" (Harris/Archer) and in Greek a conventional Geroge Abbott-Smith and Liddell-Scott blend.

    Not asking much . .

Is the Lincoln Library still in print? The last new or newer one I saw was back in the 60's. I learned much from it, back in the day as they say today.

Strong's Concordance, I like to do word studies in the scriptures. Also, I can rarely remember the exact chapter and verse of certain verses, but I can always remember part of the verse, in this way I can easily locate it.

This is similar to the question asked at the end of The Time Machine, the 1960 movie version, it’s not in the book, the end of the book is a bit darker. At the end of the 1960 movie George has gone back to the future to rebuild civilization with the Eloi. His modern day friends find three empty spaces in his bookshelf and ask the question, if you were going to rebuild human civilization, “Which three books would you take?”

The Bible of course would be one, but what else, I think a medical encyclopedia or something related to health and healing would be a must. Personally I would think some kind of geological sciences reference covering refining, smelting, and basic machinery construction would be the best choice for the third.
