This past week I was talking to someone from a GARBC church. She mentioned that the church is really GARBC in name only. I was infomed that for the past 10-15 years they have not been very active with the Association. Here is my question. Why be a affiliated with an association, convention, fellowship, ect, In Name Only? I fully appreciate the autonomy of the local church, but why claim affilation if you are not serious about it. Or could it be, that is how we allow our members to be. They are members of "First Baptist" in Name only! At least we can count them on the roll. I contend that if your church is not at least moderataly active, then just be completely Independnt. Thoughts, (please mention your Bap background, so we can see where you are comming from) I grew up in a GARBC, been a member of several IFB over the years, (due to my miliary moves) and currently I am a member of a SBC.
