This is shameful. Absolutely shameful. Our military men and women continue to risk their lives for these people and this is the thanks they receive from the Iraqi government.

BAGHDAD (AP) - Iraq's parliament adjourned Monday for an August recess without receiving from the government a series of U.S.-backed draft laws designed to promote national unity and stem support for the Sunni-led insurgency.

    I understand how you feel.

They have undoubtably been observing our own legislature "at work".

The question we have to ask is whether national unity is possible in Iraq? If not, then our federal government is on a fool's errand to think that by keeping our troops in Iraq that national unity will eventually result.

If the representatives of the Iraqi people don't care, why should America's best continue to shed blood on their behalf? It would not be wrong for our troops to take the month of August off while the Iraqi parliament takes the month off. And it would not be wrong if our troops were pulled out altogether. Our troops removed Saddam Hussein and handed the Iraqi people a representative form of government. Our troops have successfully completed their mission. It's up to the Iraqi people to belly up to the bar and take responsibility for their future.

They never will. There are no Patrick Henry's among them. It's a worthless cause our soldiers are dying for and our national debt is mounting over. Winston Churchill found that out years ago. History repeats itself.
