Is Christ really God? Why is he better than Mohammad? Buddha and others?

    Friends this is a great book to answer these types of question. Sometimes one needs to use Apologetics before we use the law with people. For these cases this book is a good choice.

    Christ Among other gods

    I have lots and lots of books. Sadly I have bought many that I probably did not need. However this book is one I am reading cover to cover.

    There is no comparison between Christ and man-made false gods. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, the ONLY Mediator between God and man, the Living Word, the Living Bread, the Living Water, the only Door to eternal life, and the ONLY hope for mankind. He is not only the ONLY One Who gave His life to buy our redemption, but He is the ONLY One Who sits at the right hand of the Father.

    Why is Christ better than all the non-existent man-made gods? How about the fact that all those man-made saviours are still dead and rotting in their graves and still in hell, but Jesus the Lamb of God rose victorious over death, sin, the grave, hell, and has defeated Satan because of those facts. How about the fact that Jesus is the ONLY One Who can save us from our sins.

    Many, many times the professed inability for people to understand the Law groundwork of the Gospel is really a smokescreen. They may offer excuses like "What about those other religions?" or "Christianity is outmoded" but we know that they have a conscience, in many cases an awakened and pained one. And we know also, according to Romans 1, that they have a sufficient foundational knowledge of God for us to present at least certain aspects of God's Word to them.

    I believe that the apologetical approach, while not totally to be ignored - there is the rare honest skeptic, after all, like Nathanael - is not the go-to strategy for most witnessing.

    I default using the law, but for some people and some cases its good to have apologetics tools. If Apologetics was worthless, then why would these books exist?

    Harlequin Romance novels are worthless. And yet they exist. There are better justifications for apologetics than the fact that they exist.

    I am not picking on you. I am just trying to help you see a flaw in your logic.

    I do not agree with you. We live in a day of reasoning and evidences. While only the Holy Spirit can bring a conversion, the simple fact is that he has used books like Josh McDowell's more than a carpe tender all over the world and many have come to Christ due to it, is evidence that the Holy Spirit does use apologetics. In my situation however, I do believe that the law should be used as the default in evangelism presentations. But one cant say that God can only save people via one method.

    I have to generally agree with Tom here: While I personally am passionate about apologetics...and study it ceaselessly...it is let us call it: a "secondary" discipline so-to-speak. What we have to do is to understand that there are those with legitimate questions about the intellectual validity or reasonableness of Christianity's claims...but at the same time MOST people I daresay are not intellectually honest with themselves and for a non-regenerate individual who is already hostile towards Christianity....for non-intellectual reasons will often grab ahold of any random (often stupid) objection available...As I said I passionately love apologetics...but truth be told I would venture to say that possibly the greatest contribution apologetics offers to the Christian faith is its ability to strengthen and encourage the believer not always so much it's ability to convince the non-believer. Note: Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

    Good. Thank you. That is all that I am saying. I am not saying that we should never use apologetics, just that it should not be what we should major on.

    Did any of those others do the miracles Christ did?

    Did any of them speak to a dead man and the dead man came back to life?

    Did any of those others die themselves and then come back to life?

    There is no other. He was God in the flesh.
