Found this article in the Syracuse Post-Standard

Rev Jim Matthews is 75 and the the priest at St Lucy's in Syracuse. (tried to find the story on-line - but unable)

Anyways, it was a full page + article. Some interesting statement. First, there was a picture of a banner in the church which read "THE HOLY SPIRIT IS LOOSE AND SHE IS WILD" (Sign was in all Caps - Bold is my emphasis)

He appears to be proud that the Berrigan brothers. They led Anti-war protests in the '70's. " Mathews and many in his congregation think the bishops are wasting their time making an issue of birth control..." . Mathews is disappointed the he can't preform homosexual marriages (which is legal in NY). He is also angry the church won't ordain female priests.

Mathews often will allow non-Catholics to partake of Communion, including Syracuse Univ Chancellor Nancy Cantor who is Jewish. RCC doctrine permits communion only in rare circumstances

Rev Mathews often lets someone from the congregation speak; is considered a "reflection". Non-priests are not permitted to give a homily.

The reporter of the story stated "Syracuse Bishop Cunningham, through a spokesperson, declined to be interviewed for this story."

The first Catholic priest I read of that was referring to the Holy Spirit as 'she' was the (ex) Dominican Matthew Fox. He tried to defend it biblically but was, of course, un-convincing. He was silenced by the Vatican for his false teaching. He also denied Original Sin and other doctrines of the Church. He is the author of 'Original Blessing' and 'The Coming Of The Cosmic Christ'. He ended up becoming an Episcopal priest celebrating 'Cosmic or Rave Masses' and other nonsense. Episcopalians love him!

Benedict did a lot to start weeding out the 'fiery eyed' liberal clergy from the Church. Pope Francis is cut from the same theological cloth and I suspect he will continue to get rid of these guys. We had a priest in the Diocese of Fresno removed for some of the same reasons that Matthew Fox was booted. Interesting to read Matthew Fox's reasoning for what he calls for as a 'New Reformation'. BTW, his follower are overwelmingly Protestants (few Catholics) of various mainline churches and not just The Episcopal Church.

'Sister Mary Aquin O’Neill, a nun with the Sisters of Mercy order and a theologian, said it’s hard to guess how the church leadership sees some of Mathews’ choices.'

I think they may soon find out!

I'm curious as to what the local Bishop is doing?
Or is he concerned of the outrage that would occur, if Bishop Cunningham, were to take some appropriate action
