No. The miraculous sign gifts passed with the Apostolic ministry.

    A couple of observations:
There is a difference between divine healing and faith healing.

If one has the gift of healing, he does not require faith. He can simply do it.

Today's so-called faith healers require you to have faith before you can be healed. If I have the gift, I can heal you even if you don't believe I can.

If people have the gift of healing, why does anybody have to ever die?

We can all pray for someone's healing. We don't even have to pray, "God, if it's your will. heal him." The healing, or the lack of it, is God's will.

Although the sign gifts are no longer in widespread operation, God is not boxed in. He can give one to anybody he wishes in the right circumstances.

That would include the gift of speaking a language one has never learned.

I don't know of anybody who's ever done that.

No one can, neither can we assume that just because it doesn't that automatically means they are.

Think that we have to realise that gifts of healings can refer to different things, and also that by definition physical healings to me fall same as miracles being done by God, for the express purpose of bring glory to name of jesus Christ...

Also, the "sign gifts" are no longer revelatory in any of their aspects, as we do have the more sure word of the infallible Bible to rely upon today...

just think that we have to be cafeful NOT to have a closed world view to IF God can intervene as he chooses to at times...

Also, need to make sure we realise that though all gifts might still be in operation, mUST be in biblcal order, purpose, never add to /supplant the Bible...

Also, interesting about book of Acts..
Appears that Apostle Peter spoke to crowd in his "native tongue/language" miracle was that Holy Spirit allowed each group present to hear it in own language! So can tongues today be in same vein?

    A couple of comments:

For the most part, healing in the Bible is physical healing, although the healing of the Gadarene demoniac had to with his mental health.

If the gifts were still operational, I would agree that they must be in Biblical order and purpose. The problem is, I can't remember ever seeing such gifts operate with any kind of order.

And I definitely agree that the tongues spoken on the day of Pentecost were languages--and that the miracle is in the hearing, not the speaking.

1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

The sign gifts were temporary. They were needed when the Revelation of God was still incomplete or in part. When the complete (perfect) Revelation came (Bible was finished) the partial Revelation, in the form of tongues, prophecy, and knowledge, passed away.

Then Paul confirms that in verse 13 where he says that NOW (when Paul wrote 1 Corinthians) abide faith, hope, and love, THESE THREE. Note he did NOT say faith, hope, love, tongues, prophecy, and knowledge, these six.

When Paul wrote 1 Corinthians the gifts of tongues, prophecy, and knowledge were no longer being given to new converts, and as the old believers aged and died out, so did the gifts they were given. By the early 2nd century all such gifted believers were gone and with them the sign gifts as they were no longer needed to confirm the inscripturation of God's word.

The Pope has a much larger following. Does that make him right and all Evangelicals wrong?

The problem is that you did not respond to the germane points. You dodged the issue and threw up a lot of dust to obscure the FACT that it is grammatically IMPOSSIBLE for the verses to refer to Christ, and the ONLY grammatically correct antecedent is the revelatory gifts of tongues, prophecy, and knowledge.

I read your rather silly insistence that the canon is not closed. If not then the Quran, the Book of Mormon, The Pearl of Great Price, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Satanic Bible etc., have an equal claim to being the word of God! God was not confused when he inspired the words already quoted from Revelation that nothing more was to be added. And the Holy Spirit was not ignorant of what He had already inspired. Closed is closed. Period.

Why do you think you have to lie about me? Is your position so weak that you can't argue the issue, but rather have to lie about me and my motives? I assume you are a Christian so I assume you are also familiar with what the bible has to say about liars and false accusers of the brethren?

A fervency for the truth; contending for the faith; cannot be mistaken for anger. One cannot be such a judge, when confronting the truth of Scripture presented by another hundreds or even thousands of miles away when he is simply sitting behind a keyboard putting his thoughts on the board.

As he said: you have not answered any of his points.

Using words like "silly" "hypocrisy" and "own up to it" as well as grammatical use of exclamation points all come across as angry and defensive. I engaged this subject for the purpose of discussion. Not to take part in this. There are ways to disagree without those personal attacks even if you are suspicious that one is being inconsistent. This is my last response to either of you. God Bless
