Well, it wasn't too long after Lot pitched his tent near Sodom that the angels came, removed the redeemed from the wicked city, and destroyed those left behind.

But that can't happen until the Jews build a temple for Jesus to return to, right? <G>

A sobering light to awaken Christian Zionists from their delusion that modern Israel is "God's People".

It is my understanding that the Lord Jesus will build His own temple after He returns. There will be a temple built by the Jews during the tribulation as I understand it, but not in the right place because of the dome of the rock. Christ will correct that after His return.

An unfortunately side effect to people being idiotic racists is that it drives those being oppressed away from conservatives (who typically are much stronger racists) and naturally, towards liberals, who tend to not be as ignorant when it comes to racial matters.

Drawing the conclusion that Jews aren't God's chosen people because of wrong beliefs seems silly, doesn't it?

We've got to separate spiritual Israel from political Israel.

Fair is Fair, or Is It....

...if you are going to close one OP because of homosexuality content for discussion, then close them all!

Not to close all OP's on gay or homosexual issues is hypocritical and appears to be selective...:tear:

This bring about an interesting point. For those who believe that the modern state of Israel deserves the same treatment as Old Testament Israel how should Christians respond to this?

Would it be 'cursing Israel' to condemn this action?

It would not be cursing Israel. Even when David was king they were open to criticism. The prophets did it all the time. But then some folks will do backflips trying to prove that the Jews were never God's chosen nation, or that if they were, He has rejected them for all times. (Not saying that about you Roger)

"Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious. 12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!"

My view is simply that God promises were to His people, the Jews of the Old Testament. I contend that they still exist today, but may not be represented by the current political state founded in 1948.

Thanks for a balanced response. I do find that some will not tolerate any criticism of Israel. I even have one friend who feels that he needs to always be a fan of the Israeli football (soccer) team.

I hope that we are wise enough that we don't have such a blind devotion to modern Israel that w ignore sinful choices.

I think that their individual actions can be brought into account and still not be curing Israel. God never supports or justifies their evil and I don't think we are to either.

Well, I don't think any of the prophets felt that way when condemning Israel for her sins and for breaking the commandments of God.

I think an example of cursing Israel would be in that which Balaam was asked to do against them.

Old Covenant Israel was cursed by Jesus. They rejected their Messiah. Modern Israel's secularism and moral corruption is a reflection of their Godlessness.

No. I know many don't agree with it, but I call Jews a race. I'm generalizing the entire Jewish race. (go ahead, call me racist, ha!) The point I failed to get across was this: It's not a major surprise that the majority of Jewish people tend towards liberalism since conservatives have typically shown tons more racism to the Jews. Naturally, Jewish people will be drawn more towards those who do not hate them. It seems as if conservatives tend to hold the most hatred for Jews and Blacks. Half the world wanted to make slaves of Africans, the other half wanted to kill all the Jews.

It doesn't surprise me at all that people who have been oppressed by conservatives don't embrace conservative values as easily as they embrace liberal ideas.

That's an interesting take, and I apologize for not understanding what you meant, I'm glad you clarified that. One point I will make is that our society is being hoodwinked by the pc crowd to think of h*mosexuals as a race. They're not.

To the point about conservatives holding hatred to Jews moreso than liberals, I tend to see the contrary.

One of the most liberal types that showed great hatred towards the Jews would be Hitler. Many socialist idealogies come from his ideas. I also tend to hear more from the conservative voice concerning making certain we protect Israel and be allied Israel, having their best interest in mind, and exposing liberals for turning their backs on them.

Jesus cursed the religious leaders many times. I don't believe he ever cursed the nation.

And when people argue that the current government of Israel is not divinely appointed, I say so what? Just read through Chronicles and see how many of the kings "did what was evil like his father before him".

Balaam was unable to "come curse Jacob". There is no mention of the government per se. God wouldn't let him curse the nation and it's people.

Gina, I'm liberal and I like the Jews. There are many Jews active in the left-wing movement. Have you thought about becoming a liberal?
