.........Continuing the unnamed critique, Scarborough asserted that he would expect such juvenile actions from liberal bloggers, however, "I would expect more...from news outlets. And it happened on several networks yesterday." (The last part is certainly true. CNN has also engaged in such talk.)

Our local news station had similar reports. In fact, the only station I saw showing positive reviews of the events was Fox.

And, between you and I, it was the talk in the grocery store line and at the Chinese restaurant we ate at. I think many of us were confused regarding the reason for the protest. I agree it could be the media's fault since most of the signs they showed were about lowering taxes or just personal attacks on Obama. My personal observation is the leadership should have done a better job of bullet pointing the purpose of the events.

I also heard a lady at the post office say that the argument about passing on debt to our children doesn't make any sense either. It would be more like passing debt on to our children's, children's, children's, children since our children's, children's, children will be paying for the debt the last administration left.

Sorry to borrow your thread Rev but this is sort of on topic...

I just couldn't wait to say that now I've heard it all. I couldn't believe my ears listening to Fox and Friends this morning hearing them explain how the tea parties caused the past 6 week rise in the markets. The tea parties, which weren't even on the radar 6 weeks ago caused a rise in the market who didn't know they would exist??? AND THESE GUYS WERE SERIOUSLY SAYING THIS!!!!

Now I have heard the right twist facts before but I have to say this is one unimaginable stretch...:wavey:

Silly to ignore the major culpability of Obama in this debt. In fact to do so is an out right lie.

Not on the Radar of whom? The left likes to pretend in a failed attempt to minimize but it is yet another lie.

Minimize??? I'm just saying the tea parties have nothing to do with the market rising the last 6 weeks. That is a huge stretch even for the right.

By the way, you said the tea parties were not about taxes. I was told this today.

    Taxed
    Enough
    Already

This was from a person who just got a tax cut but is calling it an increase because the deficit is rising... I guess logic isn't necessary to be a Republican.

According to Glenn Beck, the issue was overspending! There are just too many unconstitutional budget lines the Federal govt is spending, such as welfare, education "blackmail laws" and ect.

The other problem is that a good % of people do not pay any federal income tax! A family of 4 pays NO tax on the first 34 thousand dollars made. I know, they WITHOLD taxes, but the family will get it all back at the end of the year. So in the end, you pay no taxes, and the govt uses your money at no interest for the year.

So when Obama says that 95% of Americans will see no tax increase, he is technically right - as some 30% of WORKING Americans pay NO Federal Income tax!

I think your missing the major point, there was no leadership. This was a grass roots, independent movement. You can quote individuals, but they don't speak for the whole. I know some politicians got into the act in Texas and SC (and probably other places). But that was not supposed to happen and was not the norm. Most rallies specified NO ELECTED POLITICIANS. Michael Steele tried to speak at the rally he attended but was not allowed to.

There was no leadership beyond the local level. There were no talking points to put out. The only thing these 1 million plus people had in common was they are upset about the runaway spending of the current administration. They did not all receive tax hikes, like you pointed out most probably received tax cuts. Just because I may pay less does not mean I have to agree with this irresponsible economic plan. I am worried about our economy and every step taken so far in the name of "stimulus" is, I believe, making it worse.

And yes, that includes the things done by Bush and the previous administration. The last thing we want is a return from one liberal policy to another, what we want is to restrain/shrink our government.

Correction... the FNC (Fox News Channel) Tea Parties were sponsored by www.freedomworks.org which is the rights equivalent of ACORN.

If you wanted us to believe this was a grass roots movement, you should have told Fox not to name them FNC Tea Party.

Not according to John Boehner today on one of the news shows, he said American's are tired of the new taxes Obama has placed on them which is why they turned out in such numbers.

It is a grass roots movement. MediaMatters and CNN have worked overtime to say otherwise. This is just a left wing tactic.

Perhaps the logic problem is yours. Increasing the deficit is raising taxes in future years, plus raising taxes indirectly because things cost more.

So you are quite incorrect on this point.

As for whether or not it is grass roots, who cares? It doesn't matter.

The deficit was already to the point where all of this is unavoidable? But it has been this way for years and has been increased by every president including Reagan. Why choose a global economic crises to suddenly draw this line and stand on this position? Where was the tea parties when the last administration was running up the debt? Where were the tea parties when Reagan quadrupled the national debt?

Do we only get tea parties or objections when Democrats raise the debt but it's ok for Republican's to do it?

I agree, it doesn't matter if it is a grass roots movement. I was not the one who brought that up.

But you are the one who suggested is is not a grassroots movement following the lead of media matters and CNN. There should have been an outcry over the debt years ago but it is incorrect to act as if the previous debt is anything close to what is going on now.

"FNC Tax Day Tea Parties" was a title I saw n Fox. Are you denying their involvement in these events to the point they added their name?

Also, there is no secret the tea parties were heavily backed by corporate lobbyists. This is not CNN or media matters saying this, it is well discussed. Many sources also revealed the organizers of many of the local events were actually the lobbyist-run think tanks such as Americans for Prosperity, Freedom Works, and Newt Gingrich’s American Solutions. These groups are right wing ACORNS and provided most of the logistical and behind the scenes work. Too bad they didn't get permits...

Lastly, isn't it ironic these folks would buy one million tea bags to be dumped in a park as a way to protest wasteful spending? How wasteful is that?

"Think progress' give me a break. By the way they did not say anything that proved it is anything other than a grass roots movement. They are just defending their messiah and marxism.

So anyone not on the right has to be an Obama worshiper. With his approval rating being in the 60's, you're talking about the majority of America.

Perhaps the problem is not with the majority??? :BangHead:
