This is a wonderfully humble, intelligent, Godly response. Thus, I am shocked it hasn't been attacked already

I am shocked it hasn't been attacked already[TV]

"Because any "response" I would/could/should make or even 'hint at' would be considered an "attack"(even tho' it wasn't) & would be deleted; then I'd get some scarey private messages/warnings that I have never ever gotten before in my whole life from anyone-so that's why the granny ain't touching that one with a 10ft. pole! :)

Hey, Bro.Coley! I ain't smart at all, but thanky fer thinking it...(maybe smart-alec?) "I have to read, read, read & what's so bad is my eyes is going out on me, I think. And then I have to write down everything so's I can remember it, 'cause of that old-timer's disease; but one day everything will be okay, won't it?
    "EVEN SO, COME, LORD JESUS!"

Say~what is that "life-size tabernacle" like that you were first talking about? I would love to go one day~I wonder if it's on the internet! WOW! another new thing to go check out! C-ya!

Your compliment to Bro. Hank was in good taste, but the above quote was a nasty little dig to those who disagree with you on the Bible version issues. Why snipe like that? It only keeps the bad blood flowing. :(

RomOne16, I agree. I distinctly remember reading quite a pointed admonition in another thread. Here it is: http://www.baptistboard.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=4;t=000438

ohoh, I didn't mean to start another dunnybrook [IMG]

Remember I am TRO, the "TR" underlying the KJV.
Yes I know its a reconstruction. Yes, there are problems here and there.

I guess another way of saying what I did so poorly in the previous posts would be in the form of a question.

Why can't we have a modern English Version of the Bible based onn Scrivener's 1895 text (which even Dr Ruckman uses) that everyone could/would accept?

One that would be faithful to both the Received Text as well as faithful to the intent of the "koine" - "common" language of the people.

Personally I believe it will happen if the Lord tarries much longer.

OBTW, No one answered - what is an "ouch"?

Hi Bro. Hank. I found this for you.

    ouch2

    PRONUNCIATION: ouch
NOUN: 1. A setting for a precious stone. 2. A brooch or buckle set with jewels. 3. Obsolete A clasp; a brooch.
ETYMOLOGY: Middle English ouche, from Anglo-Norman (une) ouche, alteration of (une) nouch, (a) brooch, of Germanic origin. See ned- in Appendix I.

You are probably right. Maybe someday there will be a modern english translation that will be acceptable to the vast majority of Christians. But.....I sure hope Jesus comes for us before then! ;)

Y'all are making my point. Thanks. :D

Actually, anyone who dares post with a little humility on either side of the issue (Be it Hank, Chris Temple, or Brother Glen, will get attacked by the pugnacious elements from either side.

As for my admonition, the very type of behavior I am cautioning against is being exhibited in the responses to my post. Ironic? No. Normal for this forum. Regrettably, yes. :(

    Thanks Romans 1:16,

So the word "clasp" that the NIV uses is OK (BTW, thats not necessarily an endorsement of the NIV, just a neutral statement).

    All:
I'm wondering out-loud why the MV authors/publishers who use the Wescott and Hort Text can't come out with a Scrivener Text edition?
Amend in place the WH variants with the TR reading (including 1 John 5:7).
Then one could purchase according to one's texual conviction/preference.

I would really like to see an NIV TR based English Bible.

Interesting. I believe this hasn't happened because there is no demand for it since the pro TR camp is very small.

It is truly sad that you can see the mote in your brothers eye but are oblivious to the beam in your own. You just have to keep instigating more unrest. Why is that?

I didn't point any fingers. I just made an observation about finger pointing. [IMG]
