    Gal 3:24

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified*by*faith.

Now what is it to be Justified by Faith? It's one or two things #1 Its to be Justified by His Faith/Faithfulness, meaning Jesus Christ, its the Faith of Jesus Christ. #2 It's when that Justification by Christ is declared or pronounced in the conscience of the already Justified.

It's never meaning that faith is a condition we must act in order to get Justified before God, cause that overthrows Justification before God based solely upon the Person and Work of Jesus Christ , what He did for the Justified. Then it becomes justification by our works, a false gospel!

@Brightfame52 you have to start reading your cherry picked verses in context. When you do that it will clear up much of your misunderstanding of scripture.

Yes Christ is faithful but it is not His faithfulness but our faith in Him that is the cause of our justification. If one does not place their faith in the faithful one they will not be justified.

Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.
Gal 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed.
Gal 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gal 3:25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

    Gal 3:26 For
you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. NKJV

    As we can see the person is justified by/through their faith in Christ Jesus. Now you will of course say that is a work but Christ would say that type of work is just what God wants;
Joh 6:29 Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God,
that you believe in Him whom He sent."

And Paul explains in Gal 2:16 that is not works of the law but faith in Christ Jesus that results in our justification.
    Gal 2:16 "knowing that
a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.

Im showing how people have corrupted Faith, by making it a condition, its not that at all, its God given evidence, persuasion.

...they've also corrupted faith by confusing it with a choice made by the creature instead of a conviction... Hebrews 11:1

Why don't you simply cite the word, Galatians 3:22, But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

God has provided the evidence, creation, and the persuasion, conviction of the Holy Spirit and the gospel etc. But at the end of the day the person still has to evaluate the information and make the choice to accept or reject the information.

God can provide the evidence and persuasion but the person still has to make the choice. The only other option is that God forces them to accept or reject the information. Is that what you are suggesting?

Have you not read your bible lately?
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,

Joh 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

Act 16:31 They said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

Rom 3:26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

    Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;

Eph 1:13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

The Holy Spirit has set the condition, FAITH, calvinist's will not accept this truth and so they twist what the bible says and call faith a work. Faith has not been corrupted, but calvinist's have corrupted the meaning of faith by calling it a work.

When the Jews ask Christ what works they could do to earn salvation He told them this is the thing that will be acceptable to God, or which you are to do in order to be saved. "believe in Him whom He has sent". Christ {the Messiah that the Jews longed for} is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Rom 10:4

@kyredneck you seem to be confusing conviction with conversion. A person can be convicted of their sin but that does not mean that they will abandon their sin. The creature always makes a choice, even when they do nothing they have made a choice.

I do find it strange that under calvinism your sovereign God can give man the free will to reject Him but can not give them the free will to accept Him. Are you sure your version of God is actually sovereign?

You see if those Christ died for are not Justified before God before they believe, and not until they believe, then their act of faith becomes their Justification before God, and not Christ alone, which is error indeed !

If our faith is our righteousness/justification, then we are justified before God by our own righteousness, which is of the law, and not the righteousness of Christ Phil 3:9

And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

If you say my Faith makes me just or righteous before God, then you shall be found justified by your own righteousness !

Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen, or invisible

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

The Spiritual things of God in ones Salvation like Justification, forgiveness of sins,

Faith is given to the saved ones to evidence it to their minds and conscience that its theirs through Christ.

Its not something found in the natural mind and heart of men. Its heaven born

So you deny clear scripture and hold to your man-made theology. BF you have man saved before they even believe.
We have been over this before and you continue to ignore scripture that shows you are in error.

You have to rewrite scripture to make it fit your theology. These verses are clear
Act 16:30 And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
Act 16:31 So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

1Co 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

You have to twist these verses to make them fit your theology. Here are more that do not support your view.

Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Eph 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

BF I understand that you want to trust in your theology but your theology will not save you when it requires you to deny clear scripture. Humble yourself before God and admit that you were wrong, your eternal destiny depends upon it.

So you think what I stated was man made. Im showing how one is Justified by Faith, faith is a spiritual evidence and suasion of spiritual realities, like Justification before God. Its not something you or i conjure up as a condition to do before God Justifies, thats works, merit

    @Brightfame52,
Two things. First, you are correct, salvation is not merited. Second, belief in the gospel without merit is the condition of salvation. Romans 1:16, . . . the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth . . . .

What you said was that man was saved before they even believed, that is a false teaching on you part. What you are doing is making up your own theology which is contrary to scripture. You are swimming against the tide BF.

Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. Do you not understand what this verse says?
Or what about this one: Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

You continue to deny clear scripture. Why are you so attached to the false teachings you continue to promote. They are not supported by the biblical text which you claim to believe.

You can dance around the truth all you want but it will not change the truth.

    Not.

    1. Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen. Heb 1

You are still confusing conviction with conversion.

faith confidence or trust in a person or thing:
conviction a fixed or firm belief:

Just because one has faith or a conviction that the gospel is true does not save them. God saves because of their faith / conviction that the gospel is true.

The question: "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" Act 16:30
The answer: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household." Act 16:31
The means: Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. Act 16:32
The response: ...and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household. Act 16:34

Either you're the one that's confused or this is just more of your deliberate false representations of other's words.

I am just answering to your comment KY. Faith is a choice made by the creature. You just do not want to accept the truth of scripture. I put clear scripture in front of you and a few others on the BB and all I get back is denial and accusations of not understanding calvinism or them. To many on here trust in a philosophy rather than the clear teaching of scripture.

What am I confused about KY? How did I misrepresent your words?

Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

"The word “that,” therefore, does not refer particularly to faith, as being the gift of God, but to “the salvation by grace” of which he had been speaking. This is the interpretation of the passage which is the most obvious, and which is now generally conceded to be the true one." Barnes

As the passage says we do not save ourselves, God saves those that believe.

    A. T. Robertson. Commenting on this passage in his Word Pictures in the New Testament, Vol. IV, p. 525, he states, “Grace is God's part, faith ours.” He adds that since in the original the demonstrative “this” (and this not of yourselves) is neuter and does not correspond with the gender of the word “faith,” which is feminine, it does not refer to the latter “but to the act of being saved by grace conditioned on faith on our part.”
Even more clearly in A. T. Robertson, Grammar of the Greek New Testament in the Ligthere is no reference toht of Historical Research, p. 704, he states categorically, “In Eph_2:8 … there is no reference to διὰ πίστεως [through faith] in τοῦτο [this], but rather to the idea of salvation in the clause before.” Baker's New Testament Commentary

I know these comments must just grate on you but truth is truth.

"The next question is, in what way do men receive that salvation which is offered to them by the hand of God?
The answer is, by faith; and hence he concludes that nothing connected with it is our own. If, on the part of God, it is grace alone, and if we bring nothing but faith, which strips us of all commendation, it follows that salvation does not come from us."
Faith, then, brings a man empty to God, that he may be filled with the blessings of Christ.”
    Calvin commentary Eph 2:8
