I don't quite agree with that. What will make the defect go away is stop most of the spending.

I am a strong supporter of the military- but there is a lot of excessive waste.
For example - a GI is stationed at Ft Drum, NY. He gets orders to Korea for a one year (un-accompanied) tour. He is given an advance assignment that will take him back to Ft Drum. But the government will ship his wife and 4 kids as well as all his furniture back to Nevada. Upon his return to the States - then govt ships them all back to Ft Drum. (think of the cost of that- just mileage alone- .50 at 2500 miles = over $1,000.) I see that as a total waste. (this was the policy when I ETS - if it has change please correct me) There are more examples of EXCESSIVE waste - that should be addressed. But to simply cut the defense budget without specifics is absolutely wrong.
Many of the Feds departments should be reduced or even eliminated.

That is so true Salty. Spending is a serious problem, but i was merely addressing the tax side of the problem, not the spend side of it.

We need a more fair tax system, the dems are right about that. But it is the poor that need to contribute more, not the rich, they are carrying us already.

The very people you want to raise taxes on are the ONLY ones paying income taxes. 47% of Americans dont pay any taxes. IMHO, the EIC needs to be done away with, and everybody needs to pay a set percentage of their wages to fund government.

Basically, if the poor paid their fair share, instead of nothing, then the deficit problem would go away.

How can you say that the rich don't pay their fair share when they are the only ones paying?

Too many (not rich) people abusing the system. The loopholes should be closed so that (as obama says) EVERYONE pays their fair share. I'm all for that - EVERYONE. Even the poor need to have skin in the game.

Why do the rich anger us? Are we jealous? They create the jobs. They increase wealth. When the government tells Bill Gates he cannot do this or that, where is the moral justification? No government official ever created a job, created true wealth, or sustained the growth of the economy. All they do is stifle it. Then they have the gall to take hard earned money and squander it on stupid ideas, like funding abortions. What right does the government have to tell a business owner what wage he has to pay an employee? The governments involvement in wages should be limited to government employees.

Yes, for companies making an outrageous profit, giving out undeserved bonsues, paying little to no taxes, there should be consequences, for individuals. We do not have to pass a law everytime someone abuses the market place. In fact, if our market place was really free, the market place would take care of these type of crooked individuals. Actually, what right does any politician have telling anyone they are crooked?
