Sure - but if the government that they want is against our own security then we shouldn't help them get there.

And what if the people of those countries want a tryanical form of government such as we will no doubt now see in Libya.

It looks like Libya is going from the frying pan into the fire.

No - but national security is a valid concern.

What would your opinion be if some other country decided that the Occupy Wall Street protests are an attempt by the American people to over throw Washington and they decide to act militarily on it?

Sadly, it appears that a large segment of voters are only looking to get free stuff from Washington and don't care about the other issues.

Americans have the ballot box, an option the people of places like Libya did not have. This, of course is nothing new. The French came to our aid when the people, at least according to many at the time, had no recourse but to rebel against Britain.

Since most of the (rebel) fighters were members of Al Qaida why does it surprise anyone that they would declare an Islamic State. You think Mr. Obama didn't know who these folks were and what their intent was? What made a civil war in Libya our business to support when we were already fighting in oterh areas? What made it our business anyway? Since there needed to be a new Islamic state Mr. Obama decided to help I suppose.

I'd be willing to bet that the international community won't allow this "sovereign nation" to keep it's state owned banks that make zero interest loans.

Wasn't for Mr. Obama to decide. Those kinds of decisions are made long before they get to the president's office.

The Libyan regime change just fell to Mr. Obama because he was in office when it went operational.

These are some of the people who make those decisions . . . CLICK HERE. We don't get to vote for or against these people BTW.

    Ever hear of Hugo Chavez?

You think such a proposal would be over the top for him?

Really! The international community, you know the global good guys our military now serves would wage all out war against anyone attempting to overthrow Wall Street including those who would try and help.

I'd doubt if they'd come to Washington's aid.

Yes. I think we are still buying oil from him.

You all forget that Gadaffy was our man, bought and paid for, for many years? He never changed. US politics wobbled.

Yes Canada is the top importor of oil to the USA, because they are willing to drill baby drill. We could drill our own if we could ever get the government to relax some of the overbearing eviromental regulations. Canada hasn't been harmed from the drilling and they are making money off of us.

I guess one way to avoid answering a question is to reply with an insult.

    So Sorry...

I guess one way to avoid answering a question is to reply with an insult.[/QUOTE]

....I did not intend to insult you. I was simply wondering why you ask questions, even when there is obvious information provided on the topic.

If in any way I hurt your feelings, I am truly repentant and apologize. :tear:

As to your question, I'd have to say, that Americans don't keep electing these people. Big business and big money is leading this country around by the brass ring in their nose. The last brass ring was the ring of "change!" Well, people are finding out that the change is not to their liking, and I'm afraid we'll end up with another poor choice as POTUS.

You asked a question that intentionally clumps everyone into one into the same group. Your statement, in the form of a question is misleading. Not ALL Americans elect these people. There was pretty much a 50/50 split in the vote on Obama, which would strongly support my statement to you, that Americans do not keep electing these politicians. Some Americans elect these leaders. Other Americans have to suffer for the emotional stupor and sightlessness of some Americans. And in the end, you should know by now that it is the Electoral College (again a group of big money, fat cats, governed by greed and corruption) that ends up putting the person in the Oval Office.

I disagree. When the majority (or plurality) of Americans vote they do so on behalf of the nation. We say 'America elected...' because she did by more votes. When a church votes to, for example buy property, we don't say 'Seventy of the one-hundred ten people in our church bought this property. We say 'Our church bought this property.'

I am interested in your assessment of the Electoral College. Where do you get the information that they are a 'group of big money, fat cats, governed by greed and corruption?' States choose how to cast their electoral votes by popular vote. Could you provide some examples of these fat cats who have elected a president against the will of the people in their states?

The point is that the US (or some of its voters if you prefer) has historically opposed tyrants and supported democratic choice. Gaddafi was a murderous tyrant. The elected representative of the American people chose to offer minimal support to our NATO allies and as a result a barbaric tyrant and enemy of America is dead. Lets see how the Libyan people respond now.

I guess I ask questions in teacher mode. Asking honest questions is a primary was of drawing out thoughts and opinions. I would rather ask questions than attack and insult.

Only time will tell whether the term 'Islamic state' means anything more in Tunisia and Libya than the term 'Christian state' means in England...

It's not US politics anymore. You guys keep missing that one little point.

It's international politics now. The only thing we Americans have to do with it is paying for the murder and destruction the international community leaves behind in it's path.

And as we have seen in Libya the international community acts above the law. Our law and it's own laws.

C'mon people. Ths USA is just a cog in the global wheel and the wheel is corupt to the bone. Get it?
