I posted ages ago and now I can't find the post.

A friend of mine knitted herself a coat some years ago using Anny Blatt "Big Anny" yarn. It seems to be discontinued but now that my friend has finished her degree she is looking to knit another coat.

Would anyone have any idea of a substitute yarn please? The yarn was knitted on 00/13/9.0mm needles.

    Many thanks

Was the yarn wool, or cotton, or a synthetic blend? How large were the skeins?

I have no idea but I think it might have been a synthetic blend. The coat she made is lovely, very chunky but past its best now and she would love to knit another. The needles are very large and she is trying to find a comparable yarn. I have looked on the Anny Blatt website but can't find anything she could possibly use as a substitute.

    Blessings

From my current stock of super chunky yarns - SIRDAR BIG SOFTEE (51% wool )uses 9mm needles, and also WENDY FREEDOM WOOL (100% wool) and WENDY SUPER CHUNKY (acrylic blend ).
If your friend can remember the brand i.e. SIRDAR/WENDY/STYLECRAFT etc. she could go to their website where she should find all current yarns listed and the needles used to knit them. She will find , on the sites a `contact us` facility and that the companies will be only too happy to assist her in her quest.

Thank you Gwyneth! That is going to be really helpful to her. I know she wanted to knit another "Anny Blatt" coat, but she is looking for any yarn she can knit on that size needles. I will pass your info on.

    Many thanks
