What is the reputation of this school? What are your thoughts on this school?

I know it is TRACS. What else do you know about it?

With the risk of painting with broad strokes, I'll offer that, in Baptist circles at least, Luther Rice is fairly well regarded. I know some look down their noses on degrees from LRS, but I think this is either on account of the institution it was during its first couple of decades, a bias against distance education in general, or because they are TRACS only.

I earned an M.Div @ LRS and my experience at LRS was positive. I took the first year of classes while church planting in Northern Asia, and the next two years while serving full-time in the US as an Assistant Pastor, serving under a seasoned pastor. For me, it was an ideal learning experience, and LRS classes facilitated a very profitable three years of training.

Also, I was able to study Greek and Hebrew at a distance (very few seminaries offer language courses via distance ed), and those classes were excellent.

They have a decent faculty, and an adequate campus/library. In 2011, LRU/LRS had about 1100 students.

On the negative side, I was not impressed with some of the adjuncts. If there are complaints concerning the rigor of LRS, I think that they are warranted only by some of the adjunct-taught classes.

Overall, I am grateful for LRS. It is not the route everyone should take, but for me it was spot on.

While I have not attended LRS myself, one of my best friends in the ministry received his MDiv from there. I asked him once if it ever caused him any difficulties with pulpit committees, he said that it had not (atleast to the best of his knowledge). He always speaks highly of the time he put in there.
