i have absolutely no doubt abt the movie n its producer. Mel Gibson's put his money where his mouth is. he ain't lyin' or play acting. altho an actor by profession, he shoots far straighter than the types of bigtime evangelical n charismatic personalities. there's no doubt in my mind that he's out to build what he thinks is the church of Jesus Christ--but of course we know that he's sincerely wrong. the gospel that he believes, preaches, n produces on film is NOT the same as ours--namely salvation by grace alone, thru faith alone, in Christ alone, according to the Scriptures alone, to the glory of God alone.

(his is an admixture of each of the 5 solas--by grace AND human cooperation, thru faith AND works/sacraments, in Christ thru Mary, according to Scriptures n the Apocrypha n the Magisterium n the Dolorous Passion AND ..., to the glory of God n his Vicar on earth n his church ... classic Romish teaching, anathemas n all. read it all in Trent ;) )

here's more proof. the guy's a "director" in a secret Romish cathedral in which he sticks millions of dollars. don't forget that THe Passion was produced w him n "Jesus" Caviezal receiving the "transubstantiated" fleshly tissue n serum of Jesus every morning--fr a Romish priest, of course. the link to Mel's $anctuary:

    "Romanism doesn't change ... "
I'd say the opposite. It is different everywhere changing all the time.
'cause I've never seen the Roman Catholics overhere redo the crucifixion Phillipines style.

the chameleon remains a chameleon whatever its colour. in Southern Philippines, the nuns carry guns alongside the rebels; in Haiti, the priests do voodoo; in North America, they get shuttled to different dioceses for doing things w young children; in Italy, they do funny things w George Calvi n other "financiers." yet the RC church remains "infallible" n one. take a look even at Vatican 2 n the ECT--the end is the same: the pope remains the pope in the all-embracing ecumenical embrace, however u scoot "under the mercy."

Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world."

Romanism is still "of this world," since its founding in the ante-Nicene era thru its Medici reign, right on till today.

Jimmy DeYoung said he had to sign an agreement before he could watch preview of this "P" film, and now he has to be careful about what he says about it. I want to know more about the agreements he, and possibly other pastors, had to sign. Why this censorship of comments on this film, if it indeed be censorship? Sounds like censorship. christianitytoday.com has good warning, gty.org (John MacArthurs web site) has good but reserved warning, WORLD magazine is starting to have doubts: worldmag.com "No Mere Martyr" article online...I could give more web sites with cautionary reviews, warnings, and unflattering critiques of the "P" film, but time and space prevent, alas.....(plus I got "geek neck"). How about that Opus Dei cult that assistant director Michelini is in? See www.odan.org and FOX News "Mel Gibson: $5 Mil to Fringe Church" www.foxnews.com article by Robert Friedman) Always good to look at both sides of the story, y'know. Peace! "the pope remains the pope in the all-embracing ecumenical embrace"
The Catholic approach to ecumenism has changed dramatically over time. Compare the mysticism behind the building of the Sacre Coeur in the 19th century and getting observerstatus in the international council of churches during the 2nd half of the last century.

"yet the RC church remains "infallible" n one."
Again a change, he wasn't prior to 1870.

"in Southern Philippines, the nuns carry guns alongside the rebels;"
And in certain other countries they are fanatical pacifists.

Eastern Christianity is the unchanging one.
Catholicism is extremely fluid, it may always be up to it's neck into something bad, but it is rarely the same way twice.
The differences between Dutch, Italian, French, Polish and American Roman Catholic church culture are very noticable. And that's before diving into stuff as conservatism (half a dozen flavors) vs. liberalism inside the Catholic Church. Or Franciscan vs. Jesuit vs. Opus Dei spirituality.

So, is anyone going to watch this on PAX? I noticed CNN also has a special tonight (Sunday) at 7 p.m. (CST) called "The Mystery of Jesus".

NBC Dateline had a special on Friday night (I think it was), called "The Last Days of Jesus". I had it on in the background and what I heard from it was pretty bizarre.

What's with all these special programs now? Cashing in on the movie?

I just wonder how many millions the producer of this motion picture will take in, and how much will go back to the churches of Christ.

    Hollywood is Hollywood is Hollywood!

    Cheers,

    I'm watching it right now.

That's a common thing anytime a big movie comes out, particularly one as controversial as this one.

How could you LadyEagle? You are being used as a tool of Satan and God will surely condemn your soul for for your desiring to be more intimate with the Son. Shame on you!

    CJ,
I can't answer that question. I never go to the movie theatre and haven't given it any attention other than what comes on the telly news. I should imagine it will, however, be shown here.

    Cheers,

    Jim
