Talking with AITB down in the "All Other Christians" section, and she states that someone admitted to pulling a bunch of e-mail addresses from the Baptist Board and sending out "spam" (unwanted e-mail, usually soliciting something).

If I haven't got all the facts correct, then I apologize in advance.

That said, I'm climbing on my soapbox: Spam is on par with unwanted advertisements and credit card offers in your mailbox.

Spam is on par with those guys that call while you're trying to eat offering you the "chance of a lifetime" to add extended coverage protection to a credit card you don't even have. Or, worse, trying to get you to change your long distance provider.

I publicly state, as loudly as I can on this board, that if you're here collecting e-mail addresses, please kindly delete mine from your list.

I have no problems with and encourage corresponding with individual members, or even groups of members; but I want correspondence, not offers to "improve traffic to my website" or "free offers."

I will start checking my e-mail more closely for mass e-mail lists, especially e-mail addresses for members of this board, and will publicly report on this board those who are doing so.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox now....

If spam was the only problem...
I just got an email addressed to BaptistBoardMemeber at the email address supplied here. According to my virus program, there was a nasty little attachment. I recommend deleting all emails unopened if associated with this boardor BaptistMail.

I do believe Don said it all! The email address I use here is NOT my main address. I don't have a SPAM problem with my baptistmail address, but my prodigy address gets more SPAM than real email.

Af far as the virus goes, I to have been recieveing them. It is not that a member is sending out viurses, but that their email address book has been infected and is sending out the messages on its own.

Anyone with the virus problems might want to check out this thread for more information.
