The Supreme Court Justices are the hope of those against abortion. I am not optimistic that will ever happen. Why? Because of precident. All candidates to be on the Supreme Court are ask if precedent is important. All say, "Yes, very important." If any candidate said it is not important they would never be approved. No case in US history has more precedent on its side than Roe v. Wade. So, if candidates are telling the truth it is extremely unlikely that Roe v. Wade will ever be overturned.

I saw Antonin Scalia interviewed on TV a few months ago. Scalia can hardly be called a liberal. He is a strict contitutionalist. If the Constitution does not speak to the issue he says the Court has no place in taking cases on that issue. Also, he said because of precedent he could never vote to overturn Roe v. Wade. My thought at that time was, "It will never be overturned."

That being the case, and I believe it is, we, as Christians, need to turn out attention to other important issues and vote as we see fit on those issues. I have given up on trying to determine what presidential candidate, in any election, will do the most good. I now concentrate on who will do the least damage.

If you don't know the truth, then you shouldn't try and call McCain a racist, should you ?

Sorry, CTB, I'm disgusted by this thread, and you are the one who started it.

And gee, Raines made millions while driving a bank into the ground, America wants to know why, so I wouldn't put it past Raines to lie. He's been exposed as a complete fraud.

It is amazing the gymnastics Christians use to get around voting for those who support abortion.

So after repeatedly calling McCain and the McCain campaign LIARS, you know say that "the truth is somewhere"? Shame on you.

The Washington Post had more to say about this...

"Now, the Washington Post fact checker takes McCain to task for relying on…the Washington Post. Yes, the paper reported in July that Raines had "taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters," and in August called Raines a "member of Mr. Obama's political circle." But hey, the Post says now, that information originally came from the Style section, and it came when a Post reporter was "chatting" with Raines at a photo shoot. Raines apparently said he had gotten, in the reporter's words, "a couple" of calls from the Obama campaign. When the reporter asked what about, Raines said, "Oh, general housing, economy issues." So the reporter wrote that Raines had "taken calls from Barack Obama's presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters."

So the Washington Post in an attempt to cover for Obama says that a Post reporter talked with Raines and Raines said that the Obama campaign called him for advice on general housing and economy issues.

And that is meant to show that Raines is not advising the Obama campaign?

    Talk about spin !!
