Within a few years of the crucifixion, we DID have NT records to go with the OT that had been well taught.

Timothy was trained (according to Paul's letter to him) as a boy in the SCRIPTURE - the OT was all he had.

But by the time of Paul's martyrdom, he asked Timothy to bring books but especially the parchments he had written. And copies of copies of copies were spreading throughout the empire.

With the Messiah ascended, hard-copy evidence was needed . . and such, of course, are the books of the New Testament.

There isn't a Jew out there that hasn't heard about Jesus Christ. The NT to a Jew is something that they look at as a book written about Christ. Most will not believe it's authenticity, as a writing from God. So, they look at it as just another writing, much like other early writings. To them it is not God-breathed.

If a Jew doesn't believe in the NT as an inspired writing, they won't believe what is written, except by conviction of the Spirit, anyway. But they do believe the OT, in part. Most of the OT is a book of religious stories. But they do believe the prophets brought messages from God. Isaiah, and Daniel are sufficient for them to question what they are taught by their rabbi's, who really have very little explanation for Messianic Prophecies. But until they reach the point of doubting the rabbi, they will not even believe the OT.
