    Well, it may have been a slip of the tongue, or just acknowledging that he has family from Kenya, meaning that in this way he considers Kenya his home away from home!

    Thanks Judith for a great catch. BTW - if this were true, what do you think Congress should do? Should impeachment be considered?

    If it were true he should be impeached. However, Michelle did not say he was born in Kenya.

    What I got out of that is... she is not a very good speaker.
    If it is true, he needs jail time as does any in his inner circle for fraud at the least and treason at worst.

    My understanding is that the President is a citizen of the US, but he is not a natural born citizen under our current laws so he should not be allowed to hold the office, but by now if this has not been ruled on by the courts it is not going to be and he has now set a change in the rule of law by holding the office. Personally I would like him gone, but I do not see it happening. The democrats are corrupt to the core and the republicans have a mixture of corruption and spinelessness with a very few who stand for the constitution.
    I am of the mind this all has to happen to degrade and destroy the US during the last days. I do not believe the US can any longer be a super power when the tribulation begins.

    As best I understand the law of naturalization it does not matter where he was born because he cannot be a naturalized citizen with a father who was not a naturalized citizen. He is a citizen, just not a naturalized citizen and a person has to be a naturalized citizen to hold the office of President. It is my opinion that many waged the wrong war when they brought up his lack of being born in the US. It should have been pressed on the issue of his father's status not his place of birth.     Sorry but you are wrong. There are two types of citizens in this country.

    1. Natural Born Citizen - a person born on US soil (except embassy extra-territorial enclaves) or a person born on foreign soil with at least one citizen parent.

    2. Naturalized Citizen - a person born a citizen of a foreign country to meets naturalization requirements.

    A permanent resident for at least 5 years

    A permanent resident for 3 years or more and meet all eligibility requirements to file as a spouse of a U.S. citizen

    Qualifying service in the U.S. armed forces

    Foreign born whose parents were naturalized prior to your 14th birthday.
    You've got it exactly backward. A naturalized citizen is ineligible to be President. Only Natural Born citizens are eligible to be President.
    He was born in the state of Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Hawaii became a state on August 21, 1959 and had been annexed by the United States as a territory in 1898.
    Doesn't matter. His mother was a natural born citizen so he was a natural born citizen by virtue of both his being born on US soil and his mother being a citizen.

    Funny thing: when I left the military two years ago, I had to get a replacement social security card. Sent in all the paperwork, and received a letter saying there was a problem with my application. Went to the local office, where they looked me up and proclaimed that I was born abroad of US citizens (my father was in the service), but that I had never declared intent to be a US citizen and not a citizen of the country I was born in. Never mind that I had joined the US military; received both a Secret and Top Secret clearance (and all the paperwork, investigation, and interviews that go along with those), or that I had retired with an Honorable status. Apparently, up to that point, even though I had been checking "US Citizen" on all my forms for the 25 years I was in the Air Force, the Social Security Administration apparently didn't consider me a citizen until they checked that little box in their system in 2012.

    And yes, they had issued me a social security card when I was 18; I just never used it while in the military, and lost track of it.

    She also admitted her true feelings for this country during the campaign (America is a downright mean country). How these America haters rose to power is a true testament to the power of the race card, white guilt, the hype machine, and the absolute ineptitude or desire to NOT really want to win the presidency on the part of the Repugnicans. The re election was theirs to lose. Part of me wishes that Obama totally destroys this country beyond repair so that the low-fo crowd who voted for him will not only reap but RECOGNIZE the destruction they have brought upon us all....maybe then there will be court proceedings.

    Either way, it is going to be a long two years. It cannot end soon enough. When will we finally have leadership in this country again?

    I read it. It is wrong. The so-called "case law" cited is nothing of the sort. It has no bearing on any case except the one being litigated at that time before the trier of fact.

    If you are such an expert on Constitutional Law, please, tell me where and when you got your law degree.

    Anybody with a 4th grade reading level knows that the United States Constitution, drafted in 1787, mentions "citizens of the States" and a "citizen of the United States." Citizens of the United States became entitled to the rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution and its later amendments. Among these rights were the right to vote, own property, seek elective office, and to be protected by the laws of the land.

    Because the young United States followed British common law, it accepted the rule of jus soli, or place of birth. As early as 1790, Congress recognized the rule of jus sanguinis, or blood relationship, by passing laws giving citizenship to a child born in a foreign country if the father was a citizen of the United States.

    The first official written explanation of American citizenship was included in the 14th Amendment to the Constitution (1868). Section 1 of this amendment declares that "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." The wording of this amendment places national citizenship before state citizenship. In other words, an American is first a citizen of the United States and then a citizen of the state in which he or she lives. Citizens are entitled to the rights granted by both the national government and their own state's government.

    The 14th Amendment was passed to guarantee citizenship to blacks who were freed from slavery after the Civil War (13th Amendment, 1865). The amendment made the rule of jus soli (place of birth) a law for all U.S. citizens. This means that any child born in the United States becomes a citizen at birth, even if its parents are aliens. (However, as I said earlier, the rule does not apply to children born to foreign diplomats or United Nations officials.)

    The 14th Amendment does not include jus sanguinis. American citizenship acquired at birth in a foreign nation is usually determined by the law that is in effect at the time the child is born. The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952, (which reads, in part, "One parent was a US citizen at the time of birth and the birth date was before November 14, 1986 but after October 10, 1952") was controlling at the time Obama was born. He is a Natural Born citizen pursuant to the legal doctrine of jus soli as well as jus sanguinis.

    And the really sad thing is that, after making those remarks, and saying she had never been proud of the US until her husband was elected, the idiotic voters re-elected him in 2012! What is wrong with those people!

And he is not speaking, but knowing him as well as Michelle; one or both may eventually brag about being the first POTUS to be elected as a non-citizen! They have that kind of bold, audacious personalities. However, we'll have to wait and see!
