    From USA Today

    Salty says:

    1. eat less
    2. eat less junk food ( might mean mom will have to be home more often)
    3. limit TV time
    4. limit computer time
    5. be involved in team sports
    6. spend more time in active outdoor play time

and for parents: let kids be kids, don't make them grow up too quick

any other simple common sense solutions

Although a noble and worthy cause, it seems common sense to address family lifestyle habits in general more than simply centrally focusing on the children. The children will learn much more by example.

"enjoy and experiment with food" sure, made me a fat kid, who turned into a fat teen, who turned in to an obese adult.
These kids have failing health and eveloping adult diseases caused by excessive weight. And ibese child, 30 50 pounds over weight is not ok and fine.

I just read the entire article in which Jerome got his quotes from. Yeah... okay... thanks Jerome... The first thought that comes to my mind is: “personal interests and biases affecting our perceptions and the judgments we base them on”…! After that that I could have a philosophical hay day with all this author's rhetoric…I only wish he were here so I could! That author seriously needs to pull his head out of the sand. Talk about misguided information! Using him to for knowledge in this area would be like putting the fox in charge of guarding the chicken house! Okay, I’m done now…
