We all know that God can read our every thought and motive whether saved or lost. Would someone please give their opinion as to whether Satan can read a lost or saved person's thoughts, or for that matter, any person. We know he can put suggestions there. Does he know our weak area by our actions or thoughts?

I can't find any scripture that says Satan can, so I'm inclined to think "no". However, to be completely honest, I'm not sure. It really concern me too much either way.

Why am I imagining wrapped aluminium foil around peoples heads? Seen too many movies.

Only God is all knowing. Only God is everywhere. Satan has limited abilities. He could guess our thoughts by the way we react to the bait of temptation. Perhaps he could even guide our thoughts when we are tempted and allow him to.
He could work out our thoughts in a simular way that opposing armies can work out the strategies/thoughts of the enemy in their actions. Yet I cannot see how he has direct access to our thoughts, for he is on the outside, if we be saved.

Actually...I have thought about this a lot since we are so obviously(since we got saved)in a "tooth and nail" struggle everyday. The Bible plainly characterizes what we are daily going through as a spiritual WARFARE against devilish principalities and powers on this earth. While I don't personally think satan has direct access to our thoughts(though I'm not 100%sure)I think it is obvious from day to day experience that he does possess the power to suggest things or influence our fleshly natures with things we see and hear, taste, touch and smell. He is a master of deceit who will stop at nothing to trip us up or cause us to dishonor our Lord in some way or another. He "walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour".While he is NOT omnipotent,he DOES have EYES and EARS and he need only listen to us RUN OUR MOUTHS(the tongue is totally unruly)OR write some of the things we do HERE and other places to know EXACTLY how to trip us UP.I fear most of the time he can bring us down so easily simply because we in our ignorance hand him the "loaded gun" of our own fleshly words and deeds to shoot us down with.I don't want to EVER give "old smutty face" more credit than he deserves but he is a master opportunist who simply makes the most of the unwise words and deeds that WE present him with to destroy(or attempt to)our lives and testimonies. We need to humbly submit ourselves to our Lord Jesus Christ before the Throne of Grace and plead everyday for the protection of His precious Blood.Satan HATES our Lord and EXTREMELY hates that precious atoning Blood.......but Praise God!!! he HAS to retreat from it.The truth is...when we get attacked...and we will....we need to simply trust our Lord for protection.God bless you.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

2Chonicles 6:30 Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)

1Kings 8:39 Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)

I don't think Satan can read minds.
I do, however, think he is quite aware of human nature and weaknesses.

If my wife sees me look a bit too long at an attractive woman, she is justified in saying, "I know what you're thinking."

She doesn't, but she knows about men well enough to make a good guess.

Satan is almost as smart as my wife and nearly as dangerous.

I try to avoid trouble with both of them.

The Bible doesn't say either way, but because of some specific experiences I have had in blatant spiritual warfare, I believe he can.

But it's not really anything to worry about... it just makes me understand how desperately I need to rely on God and not my own strength when I stand against the forces of darkness.

Sure. But the point of being a disciple of Jesus is that our characters are being transformed into the image of Christ. While in the flesh, we will be imperfectly formed, the hold of those weak areas will gradually die away as we strive toward completion in Christ.

Don't worry that the evil one may be able to read your mind. Instead, devote yourself to taking on the life of Christ and working for His unshakable kingdom. When you face the evil forces, you don't have to worry or be afraid for you will overcome throught the power of God available in your life. [IMG]

Someone said demon means 'intelligence' and that they are the smartist beings. So they're expert problem solvers when it comes to making people fall, except when they try to face someone with the wisdom of Christ in them.

Even people who are students of behaviour can almost seem to read thoughts by recognising a person's behaviour and knowing the most likely reaction.

Satan has been in his business for thousands of years and though I do not believe he can read minds, he can certainly implant thoughts and just about predict with certainty our actions and reactions.

I am a spirit I have a soul and live in a body, the enemy can influence or attack the soul (mind emotions will) he can tempt the flesh (feelings etc) but my spirit God controls and is anchored in Jesus. The nemy has had a long time of continual observation of my habits weaknesses and he knows what scriptures to twist and use to discourage or intimidate He is as a roaring lion, waiting, patiently, for the right place and time to attack the soul and tempt the flesh. but I also consider what James says sometimes I am drawn away by my own and tempted and give in to sin.
I can indeed many times be my own worse enemy. I agree with much of what has been shared especially that i oft hand the enemy a loaded gun so he doesnt need to read my mind I am always giving a piece of my mind here and there and so most of it is on display somewhere.
(even the fool is considered wise who shuts his mouth)
    FIGHT MANFULLY ONWARD
    KIND HEARTED AND TRUE
    LOOK EVER TO JESUS
    HE WILL CARRY U THRU

But satan is not the only force arrayed against God. Demonic spirits also work in consort with the evil one.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." - Ephesians 6:12
