If I'm reading this correctly, something does not sound right.

"The dead man's son says the children were taken inside and his father picked the dog up.
It was then that police say Betty Walker fired twice, hitting the dog once and her husband once in the chest."

I see this playing out two ways:

    1. She's indicted.

    2. She's let go and this makes the Darwin Awards.

Exactly. Either she intended to shoot him, or she is likely one of the stupidest people on the planet.

It is difficult to understand how she shot the dog that was being held by her husband with the first shot and then fired again and shot her husband with the second shot killing him and was not at least charged with manslaughter. I do know that women are held to a lower standard in the justice system as they get much lessor sentences then men for the same crime, but this is a little much. You can bet if the husband had killed the wife under the same circumstances he would be behind bars.
Even if this was a total accident it was stupid and no normal thinking person would do this and manslaughter is because of doing something stupid. Something smells here.
