There seem to be more miracles in this modern world than ever before in the history of the world. Way beyond Red Sea wonder, etc. of OT. Look at: no major terrorist attack on USA since 9-11. Look at: SARS prayed against by Baptists and nearly vanished. Look at: more films about faith and family than ever before (including Luther, Gospel of John, Passion, christianfilms.com movies, etc.) Look at: your own spiritual deliverance. Look at: all the violent videos and witchcraft junk, yet kids still respect parents opinion about most things.

Homosexual marriages, millions of innocent babies killed yearly, Hollywood Catholic "evangelism, open televised pornography, terrorism all around the world, starvation rampant in Africa, thousands dead daily in the Congo.

    Yeah, I see your point.

My own salvation? Now THAT was a miracle!!

Eternal vs temporal. That's the biggest difference. The miracle of regeration far outweighs anything temporal by any measure! So why key in on the negative? Think on things above and not on the things of the earth. [IMG]

Miracles? You're classifying a movie as a "miracle"? Or SARS (which is, btw, still killing scores of people)?

God not raining down fire and brimstone on us today is the REAL miracle!

Miracles aren't works of magic, they're works of wonder. Only the pessimist looks at the world and says there are no miracles today.

Now, me, otoh, I see the sun rising every day is as much a miracle as the Son having risen.

Wow! That seems a little much - sunrise as much a miracle as Christ rising from the grave in victory over sin and death?

It is God's grace which allows the earth to continue to rotate on its axis, but Christ rising from the grave was a whole different "kind" of miracle!

Let me get back to original point: I've heard Christians grumble and say they wished God still did great miracles of healing, parting Red Sea, manna from heaven, etc. Of course the greatest miracle was Jesus and His resurrection. But God expects us to have faith in His continuing presence and action. I think the media overemphasizes negative events, and downplays the good God is doing. My God performs amazing miracles for me all the time, and yes that includes being alive and sunrises and no major terrorist attack on USA since 9-11. Anyone else want to give glory to God and praise Him for modern, current miracles? Each soul saved = miracle! Healings and insight and joy = miracles.

Certainly, it was a different kind of miracle, but anything that stems from the grace of God is, imo, a miracle. We tend to belittle and take for granted the more common miracles. Usually we don't start to appreciate them until we've had some kind of life changing event like surviving a heart attack or things of that nature. Why not appreciate all of God's miracles before that?

It's a miracle that my heart still beats each moment. What amazes me too is the fact that the lubricant that oils our joints is extremely slippery. Much more than oil itself. It is incredible how God has created the human body to run daily and for many years. Just think what a machine would look like it if were used as much as we are for as long as we live.

I am not belittling God's continuous involvement in our daily lives.

I do question miracles like "no attack since 9/11." If there is an attack tomorrow does that make God's working any less miraculous?

God's perfect plan is "miraculous" even if we don't see it. I disagree that we are seeing "more miracles in the modern world than ever". What you are calling miracles have been going on since Creation.

I thank God I'm alive, sane, healthy. If I am told that I have three days to live, that doesn't diminish the miracle that I've lived this long by God's loving grace. President Bush asked us to pray for God's shield of protection around America. So I do. then I thank God for his miraculous protection. See, I just finished reading Psalm 78 and it says repeatedly that they sinned by not trusting God. Unbelief in God's protection power is a sin. Wow. that woke me up. A sin for which God killed some of them. Verse 32 says they kept sinning (other sins) and refused to believe in His miracles. My point: God is so incredibly Nice and Powerful and Loving. Let's praise His Love manifested in so much healing, protection, forgiveness, mercy, justice, companionship, peace, joy, etc.
