People register trademarks and website names they suspect might be useful to someone at a later date, and then attempt to essentially extort a fee out of them to release the name. You can bet someone has registered website names for every major potential presidential candidate they can think of that might stand in 2016, for that exact purpose.
And "Bravehearts"?? Surely you jest!!
Just repeating the story. I hope Snyder is jesting if he is even considering that. That's an AWFUL name.
“Dan Snyder does not know the man named in the story.”
Snyder and Mardirossian worked together in a lawsuit against the National Park Service in a fight to chop down trees in front of their homes,
Snyder: "I don't know that guy! Really, I don't!"
So you're saying that this guy has inside info that the Redskins are going to change their name to the Bravehearts?
I think this explains it ...
He thinks he knows something. He may or may not. Personally, I seriously doubt it. I still don't think Snyder will change the name.
I would guess if he didn't know anything he would take a shotgun approach and register several names at the same time. He is a patent lawyer, after all. If he DID know something, he would only need to register one name.
An attempt by American Indian activists failed to get the Vikings and the Sports Facilities Authority to ban the display and broadcasting of the Washington Redskins’ name and logo when the two teams play soon at the Metrodome.
Officials for the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority, which operates the Metrodome said it lacks the authority to ban the use of the name and logo at the game.
We don't know that he's done registering names yet, do we?
No, we don't. Although it would be efficient to do several at the same time.
Sounds awfully coincidental to me. I hope he's not considering the Bravehearts. YUCK! If they decide to change the names, I hope they ask the fans for suggestions. The Washington Bravehearts would suck!
They better not start trying to change Florida State from the Seminoles.
He's a patent lawyer. Why on earth would he register one name at a time? When you register one, it's usually because somebody has been very specific about what's being registered.
Or maybe he's just guessing. Or maybe he's just trying to start a buzz. Who knows?
I do know one thing: There is no way Dan Snider is renaming his team the "Bravehearts."
I hope you're right. I'll never watch them again if he does. That's like renaming the Cowboys to the Cattlemen.
